🌿 At the Food for Future Summit at Gulfood Green, Rohan Shirwaiker, Co-Director & Chief Scientific Officer at the Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein, was part of a session on ‘Future of Plant-Based Foods and Alternative Proteins.
Rohan discussed the growing impact of plant-based diets, cultured meats, and insect-based products. He emphasised how innovations like precision fermentation and probiotics are driving the next wave of sustainable proteins.
The session also examined R&D challenges, partnerships, and collaborations essential to bringing these innovations to market. Rohan’s call for diversifying protein sources underscores the importance of alternative proteins in addressing future global demand and sustainability.

Today, we had the honour of hearing from Dr Flávia Fayet-Moore, CEO of FOODiQ Global, as she delved into the future of food in her keynote session, 'What Will We Be Eating in 100 Years?' Dr Fláv explored some of the most forward-thinking ideas in food science, from regenerative agriculture to personalised nutrition using AI and 3D food printing, touching on how space exploration could revolutionise food production, preservation, and sustainability on Earth.
As she put it: "Technology will change our access to information about the food we eat, from the farm, right down to the nutrients we put in our body".
