UAE Allows Expats with Expired Visas to Return

The UAE has allowed expatriates who are currently outside the country and whose residency visas have expired to return without applying for a new entry permit.

This temporary measure is valid until March 31, 2026. Affected residents can enter the UAE and then complete the necessary steps to regularize their residency status after arrival.

The decision aims to support residents who were unable to return earlier due to exceptional circumstances.

Understanding your rights and responsibilities as an employee in the UAE is crucial. Below are the key rules and regulations governed by 𝗠𝗢𝗛𝗥𝗘.

𝟭. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 - Only limited-term contracts are allowed (maximum 3 years, renewable).

𝟮. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 - Standard hours: 8 hours/day or 48 hours/week.

𝟯. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦: 30 calendar days after 1 year of service.

𝘚𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦: Up to 90 days (15 full pay, 30 half pay, 45 unpaid).

𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦: 60 days (45 with full pay + 15 half pay).

𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦: 5 working days.

𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦: 3–5 days based on the relation.

𝟰. 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 (𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆) - Applicable after completing 1 year of service.

Calculated on basic salary:

• 21 days’ salary/year for the first 5 years.

• 30 days’ salary/year beyond 5 years.

𝟱. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 - Maximum of 6 months.

• Employer must give 14 days' notice for termination.

• Employee must give 1-month notice if joining another UAE company.

𝟲. 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - Standard notice period: 30–90 days.

• Termination for gross misconduct may cancel gratuity.

• Resignation during probation requires advance notice (14 days or 1 month).

𝟳. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - Discrimination based on gender, race, religion, or disability is prohibited.

𝟴. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 & 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - A valid labour card and work permit (issued by MOHRE) is mandatory.

Sponsorship must be provided by the employer.

𝟵. 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - Private companies with 50+ employees must hire UAE nationals in skilled roles.

𝟭𝟬. 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲 (𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿) - From June 15 to September 15, no outdoor work is allowed from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM

: A new mandatory document is now required for all UAE entry permit applications.
According to typing and Amer centers, applicants must submit a copy of their passport’s external cover page. This new rule applies to all nationalities and all visa types.

The UAE Ministry of Education has announced that all public schools will now hold daily congregational Dhuhr prayer for students.

Schools will dedicate specific time during the day for this purpose, aiming to strengthen spiritual growth alongside academic learning. The ministry emphasized that schools are places of values as well as knowledge.

A video released with the announcement showed students preparing prayer spaces, giving the call to prayer, and offering Dhuhr in congregation. Many students expressed happiness over this initiative, reflecting its positive reception.
