Building of the Year 2023 20/02/2023

Happy to see that the Bamiyan Cultural Centre, a UNESCO project that I had the privilege of launching and managing for almost 5 years, along with an EXCEPTIONAL team, has been nominated for the Building of the Year award in the Educational category by ArchDaily.

This recognition brings both happiness and bittersweet memories as it highlights the dedication and commitment that went into the project, but also serves as a reminder of the once-optimistic outlook on the future of Afghanistan before the fall of Kabul in 2021.

We would like to thanks and appreciate all the colleagues, contractors and all stakeholders who directly and or indirectly influenced the successful achievement of this project during the development , design and implementation phase, the pleasures shared among all.

UNESCO releases a video to proudly share the progress of the construction works in the Bamiyan Cultural Centre site. A year and a half after the first-stone-laying ceremony of the Centre in June 2016, two buildings for exhibition halls, auditorium, tea house and a series of workshop classrooms are in concrete progress as can be seen in the video. The main building of the Bamiyan Cultural Centre is planned to be open to the public in mid-2019.
