Afghanistan District continues building Afghan capacity with on-going construction More than fifty construction projects are being executed in support of Afghan National Defense Security Forces

Leaders from the Afghan Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Afghan National Army and Governor Wesa, Kandahar Province, discussed gender integration into Afghan National Defense and Security Forces during a shura on Kandahar, Airfield, Afghanistan, Sept. 30, 2018.

The 36th Bulgarian Contingent invited NATO coalition partners from throughout Kandahar Airfield in Train, Advise, and Assist Command South to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the independence of Bulgaria. U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force leaders attended the ceremony along with Romanian partners. Following the ceremony the Bulgarian Soldiers treated their guests to food and a show of their traditional dances.

"Since 2002 Romania has answered this mission in service to our NATO collation in Afghanistan and other theaters around the world. We are grateful for the brave men and woman who serve in the Romanian Armed Forces, and the continued support of the Romanian People," said Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Smiley, commander of Train, Advise, and Assist Command South during a transfer of responsibilities ceremony for the Romanian National Support Element. The ceremony, held on September 14 in Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, included the handover of responsibilities from Lt. Col. Adrian Banciu to Lt. Col. Constantin Oprica.

"The Afghan National Defense Security Forces depend on a more reliable and secure network”, said Tariq Shah Bahramee, Afghan defense minister. "This agreement will allow us to move at a faster pace in connecting the national capital, provinces, and more remote areas of Afghanistan.”
