The Langkilde family, visiting from Denmark, paid a courtesy visit and participated in a meet-and-greet this morning with Lieutenant Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr. as part of their journey to reconnect with their Samoan heritage across both Samoa and American Samoa.

The visiting family includes Kirstan H. Hansen (mother), Trine Langkilde Hansen (daughter), Hans Peter Langkilde Hansen (son), and Magnus Langkilde Kjaer (grandson), who are tracing their ancestral roots connected to the early Langkilde genealogy—family ties that now span from Denmark to the Samoan Islands.

During their visit, the family also had the opportunity to meet with Governor P**aali‘i Nikolao P**a, marking a meaningful moment of cultural reconnection and shared heritage. The family will continue their journey to Apia tomorrow as they continue strengthening bonds with their extended Samoan family across the region.

The American Samoa Swimming Association had the honor of meeting with Lieutenant Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr. for a brief meet and greet and to share updates on ongoing water safety and swimming development efforts in the Territory.

The Association, in partnership with the ASCC Physical Education Department American Samoa Community College, supports a community-based afterschool water safety program that introduces foundational water safety skills through classroom instruction and practical pool sessions. The program also incorporates the American Red Cross W.H.A.L.E. Tales curriculum, delivered by certified Water Safety Ambassadors—ASCC students who volunteer their time in service to teach children ages 6–9 at Manumalo Academy.

Funded in part through the ASSA AQUA Support Grant from World Aquatics World Aquatics, this initiative continues to strengthen community education and promote water safety awareness during National Water Safety Month.
