At the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, Malaysia also highlighted the robust enforcement of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, Anti-Restricted Activity Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 [Act 613], as well as the critical coordinating role of the Council for Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Malaysia further underscored its strategic anti-corruption initiatives under the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024–2028, including landmark legislative overhauls such as the passing of the Government Procurement Bill and the latest amendments to the Whistle-blower Protection Act. Malaysia shared its significant success in recovering misappropriated funds through international assistance and cross-border asset tracing.

CP Datuk M. Kumar S. Muthuvelu, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Malaysia Police, led Malaysia’s delegation at the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna.
In his statement at the General Debate, he highlighted Malaysia's ongoing reforms in its criminal justice system, with emphasis on:
i. Strengthening public trust;
ii. Ensuring procedural fairness; and
iii. Legal empowerment for vulnerable groups.
Malaysia also reaffirmed its commitment to regional law enforcement cooperation in Southeast Asia and its firm stance on eliminating barriers in asset recovery under the UN Convention against Corruption.

The Embassy of Malaysia in Vienna was pleased to participate alongside other Embassies/Permanent Missions of ASEAN Member States in Vienna in the ASEAN Cultural Event 2026, themed “ASEAN Heritage and Harmony Through Rice”, held at the Grand Hotel Wien on 29 May 2026. The event brought together representatives of the Austrian Government, diplomatic corps and friends to celebrate ASEAN’s rich cultural diversity and shared heritage.
Malaysia showcased its traditional martial art through a captivating performance by Bongsu Silat, an Austria-based Silat association comprising local members. The Silat demonstration by Austrians reflected the growing appreciation of Malaysian cultural heritage in Austria while highlighting the beauty, discipline and traditions embodied in the art.
The Embassy served a selection of Malaysia’s all-time favourite dishes, including nasi lemak, curry puff and pandan-flavoured cake, giving guests a true taste of Malaysian culinary heritage.

The Embassy extends its heartiest congratulations to our national tower runner and world no. 1, Soh Wai Ching, for his outstanding performances at the recent DC Tower Run 2026 in Vienna (29 May) and the Tower Run Basel 2026 in Switzerland (30 May).
In Vienna, over 58 floors, Soh Wai Ching delivered a commendable performance to secure a hard-fought 4th place in 6:02 minutes. Building on this momentum, Soh Wai Ching went on to achieve a spectacular victory at the Basel Messeturm with a new course record, conquering 31 floors in 2:34 minutes.
The Embassy wishes Soh Wai Ching Towerrunner continued success as he proudly flies the Jalur Gemilang and elevates Malaysia’s presence in international sports.

The ASEAN Vienna Committee held a Political Dialogue Meeting with the Delegation of the European Union to the International Organisations in Vienna on 20 May 2026 to discuss and exchange views on the UN80 Initiative and multilateral cooperation in the context of Vienna-based International Organisations.
Malaysia, among others, reaffirmed its support for ongoing UN reform efforts aimed at enhancing the efficiency, integrity and effectiveness of the UN, while underscoring the importance of ensuring that reforms remain practical, balanced and responsive to the needs and priorities of Member States, particularly developing countries.

At the 69th Session of Working Group A of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to the objectives of the CTBT and stressed the importance of the Treaty’s early entry into force.
Malaysia also highlighted the successful convening of the Regional Radionuclide Workshop and Integrated Training for National Data Centres in the South-East Asia, Pacific and Far East region, held in Putrajaya from 9 to 13 February 2026 in cooperation with the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS) to enhance knowledge and practical skills in radionuclide data analysis and the use of the National Data Centres.
