It was the 18th of November 2011. Alex's 18th.
10 am; The phone rings, mum is on the other end telling me I had to go to the doctors ASAP. I didn't think anything of it. Because I had blood test that wednesday and it was my results. Thinking I just had a stomach bug, I expected a prescription for antibiotics. But instead the news Doctor Ali gave me turned my life upside down in the matter of min
utes. Sitting in Doctor Ali's office he was taking me through my blood results and explained to me that my white blood count was extremely low and told me that I had AML ( worst type of Leukaemia ) But sitting in the office, pathology rang him and explained to him that is was confirmed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). It hit me I had CANCER!! Devastated that he diagnosed me with Leukaemia, I was told that I had to get to the John Hunter Hospital immediately. I had to prepare myself for the longest stay of my life. The doctors came flooding in, the information they were telling me was going in one ear and out the other. I didn't understand anything. They told me to be living in Newcastle for the next month. Shocked, I was going to miss my final days of year 10! The first two weeks of my NEW life was full on, starting chemo. Bone marrow aspirations and lumber punctures. Life was going at full speed. I am now coping with my Cancer in the most positive way possible. I have accepted the fact that I have Cancer and that I could not of done anything to prevent myself in getting it. I am now currently living in Ronald McDonald house in Newcastle. It is amazing. I am losing my hair, I have a bald patch LOL! But I get my wigs soon. Cancer has completely changed my outlook upon life. Life is too precious to waste it. Go crazy, take risks and make a BLOODY FOOL OUT OF YOURSELF. TAKE LIFE TO EXTREME!! Because life can and is capable of throwing things at you. I will try and keep everyone updated by status's, photo's, stories, new treatment ETC. I appreciate all the support from my lovely friends. I hope to be seeing everyone soon and miss you all very much. Iloveyou all x
