A Moment for Two Airlie Legends 🍻

While we gather for another Revival, there’s also a moment on Saturday where the beers will go a little higher in the air and the stories get a little louder.

This one’s for Kymbo – a true Gateway boy, a staple for the WhitsundayGolf Club, who was part of the furniture around the pub and always up for a laugh at everyone’s antics around him.
And for Eddie, one of the Airlie boys who helped shape the early bar scene back in the days when nights were long and the stories even longer.

The Revival has always been about more than just birthdays and surprise parties.
It’s about the people. The memories. The laughs. And making sure the legends who were part of it all are never forgotten.

So when we’re there, on Saturday, beers in hand, take a moment to raise one for the boys.
Share a story, have a laugh, and give them the send-off they deserve.

I’m sure there’s a lot of beers happening above us with catch ups with legends who left before you both, and Saturday we will raise those glasses as high as we can.

REVIVAL 2026 Season Opener….

Some people just become part of the fabric of our little Gateway family… and Ratsy is absolutely one of them.

He’s one of the true gentlemen of our crew….the kind of bloke who always has time for everyone, always up for a laugh, and the sort of mate who quietly goes out of his way for people without making a big deal about it.

And funnily enough… he’s also one of the ones who kept saying back when we first started catching up again:

“Why don’t we do this more often?”

Well Ratsy… we listened. And look at what’s happened in a year. Our little Revival gang was born.

2026 is kicking off next week, and this Revival catch-up just happens to fall around a pretty special birthday for him — the big 7-3.

Last year’s birthday arvo was one of the funniest afternoons we had, so it only feels right that we gather again, share a few laughs, and remind one of our favourites how much he means to this crew.

🎉 REEF GATEWAY REVIVAL — 2026 KICK OFF 🎉

Well well well… here we are.
First official Revival for 2026 — and gee we’ve missed this chaos. ❤️

After a busy silly season and a couple of months off, it’s time to dust off the cobwebs, round up the usual suspects, and get the Gateway family back together where we belong… the Reef Gateway Public Bar.

And what better way to kick off the year than doing what we do best…

🎂 A sneaky surprise birthday for one of our OG’s — the one and only RATSY. 🎂

If you were there last year, you already know — his birthday arvo was one of the FUNNEST ones we’ve had. The laughs were loud, the stories got better as the drinks flowed, and the love in that room was next level. So naturally… we’re running it back.

🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOOGS! 🎉

Today we’re sending big Reef Gateway Revival birthday love to one of our true OGs — Mark “Doogs” McDougall, also known as our favourite grumpy old boy (and we mean that with the deepest affection 😏).

While there’s no official Revival shindig to mark the occasion this time, rest assured — tradition will be upheld. Doogs will still be treated to my full-volume, zero-warm-up, absolutely unrequested screeching rendition of Happy Birthday this afternoon. Some gifts can’t be wrapped.

Thanks for being one of the originals who helped make the Gateway what it was — the laughs, the stories, the grumpiness, and all. We hope today brings good company, a cold one (or three), and minimal tolerance required for the rest of us.
