Strike Team ALPHA training again today at the northern end of the Alex Group - Cluster Training involving Koriella, Yarck, Terip and Thornton FBs, (Whanny was an apology for todays training). All participating in Incident Controller, Strike Team Leader and Scribe roles throughout the training. They cover why a Strike Team is formed and the way it should be conducted. Its includes familiarising all members and having a go at Strike Team Leader roles and procedures whilst conducting Strike Team formations and convoy procedures. All hands on stuff. Good work by all in attendance.

On the weekend the Alexandra Group held its Group Exercise in and around Alexandra Vic. Brigades in attendance were Acheron, Alexandra, Buxton, Eildon, Koriella, Terip, Whannys Tanker and Yarck Fire Brigades.
Great attendance numbers covering roadside Tanker attack, Draughting and info sessions on tree Hazards culminating in a weather brief for the up and coming Fire Danger Period 2023 by the catchment Commander.
Once again a fantastic lunch put on by the Alexandra FB Auxiliary and as always D12 Rehabs attendance is always a sight for sores eyes.....
Good work by the Group DGOs and their assistants, well done to everyone.

Congratulations to the Koriella Fire Brigade turning 75 years old. A Celebration BBQ was held today at the station with the AACFO presenting duly deseserved service awards to members of the Brigade. The Brigade has come a long way from its humble beginnings in 1948. In recent times the Brigade response tables were revised and the Brigade has become a credible capability within the Alexandra Group. From the Captain, we've hit a purple patch with new young recruits recently joining the Brigade and transfers from other southern Brigades have already proven themselves as worthy fire-fighters. The Brigade continues to improve and grow so as to be a credible capability to our community, the Alexandra Group and the wider CFA organisation. We are here for you. Thankyou. Congratulations again to the Koriella FB.

On behalf of the Alexandra Group Officer, DGOs and Staff we also wish to congratulate all on their presentations of the National Emergency Medals over the weekend. Over 50 members of the Alexandra Group were awarded these well deserved medals for the 2019-20 fires. We'd also like to thank those who were involved also in their own way but not registering 5 continuous days of service, you and all of the medal recipients are credit to our community and to our team at the Alexandra Group of Fire Brigades - Acheron, Alexandra, Buxton, Eildon, Koriella, Marysville, Narbethong, Taggerty, Terip Terip, Thornton, Whanregarwen, and Yarck Fire Brigades we're proud of each and everyone of you, well done and thank you.

Exercise Night Strike 6 - Photos

15/05/2023

Exercise Night Strike 6 - Friday 12 May 23. Big thanks to all who participated in the Koriella FB and Alexandra Group Exercise last Friday night. Had over 50 participants, 6 Brigades, Alex, Koriella, Terip, Taggerty, Thornton and Whanregaren. D12 Rehab was there too as were other agencies such as the local SES Alexandra Unit, DEECA, the MCV from Wangaratta and the ADF from Watsonia and of course our local in house VICPOL representatives. We thank you all for your efforts to make the Exercise such a success. It all started with a Fire call from Firecom to the Koriella FB of a reported lightning strike on Spring Creek Rd Koriella. Upon arrival on scene of the Koriella Fire tanker, a fully enveloped garage (CFA MOBILE CAR PROP) and fast running grass fire was reported back to Firecom (MCV) and the call to make tankers 10 was initiated. This set the ball running with all available assets turning out to the incident. The Alex fcv arrived on scene and received a briefing of the situation by the Koriella crew leader then took control with JT from Terip as the Incident Controller. He soon had the situation under control and the incident was declared safe shortly after wards. Thanks again to all who participated, see you again next year with Ex NS 7. Scott EXCON. Note, pictures of the event to follow shortly.
