300 ACU Final Parade Night
Recently, 300 Army Cadet Unit Ballarat celebrated the end of the year with its final parade night of 2024. The ceremonial parade was performed in front of an audience of family members and friends, allowing the cadets to display the drill which they had learnt throughout the course of 2024. Upon conclusion of the ceremonial drill display, the night progressed with an awards ceremony, where the following cadets were recognised and awarded for their excellence:

Best Junior NCO - CDTCPL Rayner and CDTCPL Van Elsen

Best in Field - CDTCPL Bailey and CDT Higgins
Best Shot - Tobias Spear
Two of our cadets, CUO Neil Arul and CUO Lachlan Webb will also go on to perform leadership roles in 2025 as Regional Cadet Under Officer and 32 Battalion Regional CDTRSM respectively. We look forward to seeing what you achieve. We also farewell the cadets that leave our unit at the end of 2024, and wish them all the best in the future to come.

🏕️🧭🛶 EXERCISE WEDGETAIL 🦅
On November 2nd and 3rd 2024, 300 and Sebastopol ACU attended a weekend bivouac at Camp Wedgetail in Snake Valley.
We undertook two days of field training, canoeing being the highlight for many.
Other rotations included team building games, navigation, field signals and formations, leopard crawling challenge and an interactive display of how a soldier lived in WW2 organized by 2LT (AAC) Hilton of Sebastopol ACU
A great weekend had by all! 👏🏻

🤝🧠 Volunteering - BALLARAT MENTAL HEALTH COLLECTIVE 🧠 🤝
On the 13th October 2024, 300 and Sebastopol ACU volunteered their time to assist at the Ballarat Mental Health Collective Community Event
They assisted all the stall holders to set up/pack up, assisted with stalls and ran their own stall.
Stall holders included many Ballarat Mental Health and support groups.
Volunteering is a large part of what we do at 300ACU and raising awareness of positive mental health and how to get mental health support is so important for us all. 👏🏻

SES Visit 🚒🚨
Recently, cadets from 300 ACU Ballarat and Sebastopol ACU were treated to a visit from members of the Ballarat State Emergency Services (SES) Unit. The cadets were informed of the work of the SES throughout Australia, and their critical role in providing emergency assistance and support in times of need. The cadets were then shown around the truck, where they were briefed on its capabilities and equipment array. Following this, the cadets were further advised of the roles and experiences of the unit members, being given the opportunity to ask questions.

BALLARAT VIETNAM VETERANS DAY SERVICE - SUNDAY 11TH AUGUST 🌹
300 ACU and Sebastopol ACU supported the Ballarat Sub Branch service held at the South East Asia war memorial in Ballarat. The cadets proudly performed many duties at this important commemorative day, including flag party, wreath laying and providing an honour guard. We are proud of their conduct. Well done to all involved

EXERCISE HONNER - OVERNIGHT BARRACKS CAMP 10TH and 11th August ⛺ 🌿
Last weekend we conducted an overnight camp with Sebastopol ACU at Ranger Barracks. A great opportunity to practice our field skills including first aid, and navigation. It was great to see cadets of all levels of experience working together 🤜🏻🤛🏻👏🏻
This activity was named after Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Honner

Yesterday 5/8/24 we were honoured to have Mr Gordon Hunt from the Vietnam Veterans Association Ballarat Sub Branch speak to the cadets and staff about the significance of Vietnam Veterans Day and provided some history about the Battle of Long Tan. This was a fantastic experience for our members, solidifying the importance of the upcoming commemorative event. Our unit will support the Ballarat sub Branch Vietnam Veterans Day service on 18/8/24
