We’re looking for locals to join the Benalla Street Art Advisory Committee and help guide one of our most loved cultural events.

Keen to be part of something creative?

The 2027 Benalla Street Art Festival is calling for volunteers and event hosts!

Running from 2 to 4 April 2027, the festival turns Benalla into a vibrant outdoor gallery of local and international street art, and we want you to be part of it.

Host an event
Businesses, individuals and community groups are invited to submit an expression of interest to host an event. Funding of up to $3,000 is available to help bring your idea to life.
📅 EOIs close Friday 29 January 2027 (submit by Monday 1 December 2026 to be included in the printed program).

Benalla Rural City Council is fighting to ensure industrial solar developments address local impacts and deliver real community benefit.

Deputy Mayor Cr Justin King and CEO Peter Keane recently inspected road damage caused by renewable projects around Benalla.

Damages caused by solar farm traffic must not be left to the rate payers of Benalla to repair.

Council has lodged five formal objections to large-scale proposals currently before the state government, including applications for Glenrowan BESS, Goorambat East BESS, Winton RESST, Mokoan BESS and West Mokoan Solar Farm.

Key Federal and State Government Ministers and Opposition stakeholders have been written to, voicing the Benalla Rural City community concerns and calling on all sides of politics for improved outcomes and opportunities for Benalla Rural City.

Construction on the Benalla Art Gallery redevelopment is progressing well, with works tracking to expected timelines despite recent weather and a moderate flood event. Contractors have now moved from major structural works into the internal fit‑out of the new extension and upgrades to the existing building.

The project team are working through some challenges associated with the building’s age. This process has also highlighted opportunities to further strengthen the long‑term performance of the facility. As part of this, potential roof improvement works are currently being investigated,

While construction is underway, the Pop‑Up Benalla Art Gallery at 75 Bridge Street East is open, offering exhibitions, workshops and the much loved Gallery Shop - a great way to keep enjoying art and culture in Benalla.
