👉🏽As of January 6th, Brisbane Zero organisations are currently engaging and supporting over 1,000 individuals and families with children experiencing homelessness in Brisbane.

🏡 🤝 As the year starts, we are looking forward to continuing our efforts towards maintaining a quality By-Name List data and finding housing pathways and supports for one family and one person at a time.

Led by The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health, with Murri Watch Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation, Homes for Queenslanders (Department of Housing), Micah Projects, The Salvation Army Australia, Communify Queensland, BHC Creating Liveable Communities, Bric Housing, Brisbane City Council, Queensland Health – HHOT team, Common Ground Queensland, Mission Australia, Home in Place, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Community Corrections, and Q Shelter, the Brisbane Zero First Nations 45+ strategy is forging ahead in its mission to end homelessness for First Nations Peoples aged 45 and over.

Today we held a mini forum and networking event for Brisbane's frontline Homelessness workers to enhance collaboration and amplify the solutions!

As 2023 Queensland Women's Week draws to a close, we must not forget the single mothers and children living in dire poverty across Australia.

This must be fixed in the May budget. We must stop wilfully condemning single mothers to a life of poverty.

We must stop wilfully condemning single mothers to a life of poverty While our tax rules subsidise obscene accumulations of wealth through superannuation, unemployed single mums and their children are forced to live on a pittance.

Homelessness in Brisbane can and should be ended. This will require a continued commitment to coordination across organisations: a sharing of resources, risks, and rewards toward the vision of ending homelessness in Brisbane.

The Federal Government is set to cut $65 million dollars' worth of funding to homelessness services!

Why is this so important ⏳

Housing and homelessness services are already struggling to respond to everyone in need. Every single day, 288 people are turned away.

These critical services support people who are without a home or at risk of homelessness, including vulnerable people such as women and children escaping domestic and family violence.

If the Federal Government goes ahead and slashes $65 million worth of funding, then critical services will be closed, jobs across Australia will be cut and people in need will have less avenues for housing and support.
