Discover three fascinating Victorian-era baths including a quirky slipper bath shaped like a shoe! 🛁 Imagine the effort: no plumbing, so every tub was filled by hand. You’ll also spot a sitz bath (for “sitting” soaks) and a bath once used as a horse trough on the Darling Downs—now restored to its former glory. 🔊 : Splish Splash - Hank Williams Jr.

🌼 International Women’s Day at Newstead House 🌼

This portrait in the bedroom honours Jane Harris, who brought warmth, family life and lively celebrations to Newstead House from 1862–1890.

She followed other remarkable women who shaped the home’s early story:
💐 Catherine Leslie, who briefly lived at Newstead with her husband Patrick in 1845–1846 before financial hardship forced them to leave.
💐 Anna Wickham, Catherine’s sister, who lived here from 1847 until her tragic death in 1852 at just 35.

Today we celebrate the women who lived, loved and left their mark on Newstead House. 💐
