OK. Now had confirmation that the dumping of patients in hostels is UNTRUE> After numerous calls initially (over an hour) to try to confirm, it was posted to try to get confirmation. Less than 2 mins after posting, one of the contacts verified it was untrue.
It has always been the objective of this page as being a place for providing information OR to seek clarification.
If any QHealth people feel aggrieved, an apology is offered in good faith.

Ramping QAS at QLD Hospitals
A place to send information about Ramping at hospitals in QLD. I want photos, details of time and place and numbers and time ramped. Feel free to post it up.
I am so bloody frustrated by the wait times at hospital to offload patients, I feel the need to bitch like hell, and try to get some attention to the problem. This is not just for ambos, but also for the QH (and other private hospital staff) who are fed up too. I want to gather the information, and send it to the Ministers concerned as proof of the problem. Clearly the data is being displayed in a
I am hearing some stories about some ramping problems over the weekend. Can any Ambos provide me with some info so I can keep up with what has happened. Message directly or email.
For those of you who want to read the MEDAI report, check it out here.

The health Minister took the time to tell us that they had banned "bypass" at hospitals in the Metro South region. There had been an improvement.
I am sure that in some areas, ten days a a long time, perhaps if you were starving, without water and awaiting rescue (or heaven forbid on an ambulance stretcher). BUT, ten days in the ramping saga is but a grain of sand on a beach!
Get serious and tell the story when it is busy during a flu season perhaps?
I want to see an improvement, but the MEDAI report has a heap of recommendations, and January is too long to wait.

When you read this stuff, you just have to shake your head. Now, I am the first to admit that these case represent a small number of patients in the scheme of things, but how would you feel if they were you, or your parents, grandparents or heaven forbid, your children.
There is clearly not enough support in the hospitals to make this problem go away. The MEDAI report is not worth the paper it is written on unless the Minister commits to action and can stand up to the Premier and his hack and slash mentality.
The issue is actually about the rest of the Queenslanders who may wait for an ambulance that is waiting to offload.
Sadly, unless something happens to one of the politicians' families, I fear we will not be heard.

Long emergency department delays leave patients in agony A WOMAN pregnant with her fifth child and experiencing contractions was turned away from Logan Hospital and told to drive herself to the Gold Coast to have her baby.
Here is a bit of a picture from a number of emails:
12+ units ramped at PAH at one point for a few hours and others ramped for several hours for most of the night. One unit was ramped for over 7 hours (SE Region unit) and other Brisbane Region units ramped for 2+ hours at a time.
Mater Adults Hospital was on bypass the entire night as well, which made things more difficult.
Due to the ramping and limited resources available, a case on the southside area was waited for around 5 hours before a crew was able to make it on scene.
A Brisbane Region unit apparently had to respond lights and sirens from the PA Hospital area to Cedar Vale (south of Jimboomba) because the local unit was ramped at PAH.
I can't imagine what it is like for the EMDs in the Communications Centres when this stuff happens. I tip my hat to you all in there.
Report received that PA Hospital had 13 units ramped last night (since 2200hrs). The SMS forwarded to me had a tone of exasperation when it said "And it is just the start of the shift".

Hey there to all who support Ambos.

It is time the Minister stood by us. He knows operations, he knows what it is like on the front line, yet not a murmur of support where it matters. Come on Boss, stand up and be heard!
Minister for Community Safety: We want our Minister to stand with us, not against us Queensland Firefighters and Ambulance Officers put their lives on the line every day. They are dedicated professionals, who deserve the support of...
The "pack of poo tickets" mentioned a day or so ago, spurred this information from the SE Region of the state.
"FYI - Logan was shut from 1300hrs yesterday afternoon (the 15th) until around 0400hrs this morning. Then went back on redirection around 0600hrs...
Needless to say suboptimal coverage in the Logan area as crews were forced to transport to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
."
Cant say I disagree. Watch and see the Hospital Boards lay the blame on the hard workers in the ED. After all, it will be the Boards the Minister blames.

Only a part of the waiting ambulances at PCH. 15 and counting!
It appears cold and flu season has beaten the hospital staff on the Sunny Coast into submission. Reports from the area describe the following;
Sunny Coast ramping is f #$%ed today. I have heard Caloundra Hospital are down four doctors.
The rumour mill tells me that Nambour Hospital have no registrars at all due to sick leave.
Can this be verified? Be careful responding direct to his if you are a PS or Ambulance employee, "they" are watching!
