This week’s update of our space. It is slowly coming together. This week we have had several drop-ins and we’re looking forward to having more soon.

Next update to come over the weekend is a wall between the offices so we can rent a room out to make the space more sustainable.

Massive thank you to Jason from The Ferocious Gentleman for coming by the Mindful Mates Social Services drop-in centre this morning.

And even more so for the donation of The Path of The Ferocious pack for the raffle.

The Ferocious Gentleman is a Veterans owned men’s grooming brand focused on high-quality beard care and grooming products designed to help men maintain a refined, disciplined approach to personal care. The range includes beard oil, beard butter, face and beard wash, and grooming tools that work together as part of a deliberate grooming routine. The brand emphasises strength, restraint, and consistency, encouraging men to see grooming not just as a routine but as a ritual that restores, maintains, and refines their appearance over time.

Update on the space. The massage chairs are in, the projector is working and it’s starting to come along nicely.

If you have any old artwork laying around home that isn’t needed we would love it for the space.

We’ve got the keys and the doors are officially open.

Today marked a big milestone for the Mindful Mates Drop In Centre. We collected the keys and have started getting the space together. It is early days, but it finally feels real.

We are still receiving donations and support, and the space will continue to come together as items are delivered and set up. Every contribution is helping turn this into a place that genuinely supports the people who walk through the door.

A huge thank you to First Responder Broadband for donating the modem and internet connection. Reliable connectivity makes a real difference for people accessing support, services, and staying connected.

We are incredibly grateful to the communities of Moorooka, Holland Park, and Tarragindi for their generosity in donating furniture and practical items to help bring the space to life.

At this stage, the drop in centre is open Monday and Thursday from 10am to 3pm, with appointments available outside these hours by arrangement while we continue to build capacity.

We are also running a raffle, with all funds raised going directly back into further developing the space. A big shout out to our raffle sponsors for their support and generosity, which is helping us take the next steps forward.

This place isn’t fancy and it doesn’t need to be. It is designed to be somewhere people can come in, feel safe, relax, have a coffee, and take that first step between social isolation and reconnecting with community.

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to my family for standing beside me and supporting me through the ups and downs of making this happen. This centre exists because of community, in every sense of the word.

A small sneak peek at the drop-in centre space we’re building for veterans, first responders, and healthcare workers.

This space exists because many people need something quieter and more accessible than large events, a place to step back into community safely and gradually.

If you’d like to be involved or contribute in any way, please get in touch. Community-led support starts with conversation.

A great morning connecting with eight veterans, along with a few mates from different organisations. It was really valuable to sit together, share stories, and explore how we can work together towards a common goal of supporting veterans, first responders and strengthening trusted referral pathways.

catch-ups are becoming an important space for relationship-building and creating a real sense of community.

A huge thank you to Renegade Roastersfor providing coffees for our veterans and first responders. Your support genuinely makes a difference.

Our catch-ups are moving to Friday mornings, 9am to 12pm, and they’re open to anyone who wants to build connection and community.

Come grab a coffee, have a chat, and be part of something meaningful.

Fridays, 9–12 at The Clubhouse Moorooka.
Stronger together. 💛🖤
