These photographs were taken during “Couture in Paradise 2026,” an event organized by the PNG Fashion Week Team and held on Friday, 22 May 2026, at the Queensland Multicultural Centre, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane.

The invitation was extended to the Consul General of PNG, Brisbane Office. Consul Mildred Begari attended the event, accompanied by Consul Immigration Mrs Margaret Gitai and staff members Eileen Salewagen and Martin Liu on behalf on the Consul-General of PNG to Brisbane, Reatau M. Rau, who was unable to attend.

Congratulations to the organizers, PNG Fashion Week, for delivering a successful event that showcased the creativity and talent of Papua New Guinean designers and artists.

This event is another excellent example of the strong Papua New Guinea–Queensland relationship under the “People-to-People” partnership, highlighting PNG fashion, culture, and artistic excellence in Brisbane.

🇵🇬 Throwback Thursday! 🇵🇬

It was a pleasure to bring people from across the South East Queensland footprint to celebrate PNG’s 50th year of independence.

Grateful to all who attended, to those who sponsored and to those who dug deep to support the raffles, which raised funds for Friends of POMGen, Cheshire Disability Services PNG and PNG EncounterFirst 🙏🏽
