Thanks to your incredible generosity, we dropped off over 100 blankets, socks, scarves, gloves and beanies to Carina Police Station for the St Vincent De Paul Blankets 4 Brisbane initiative.

So if you have any blankets that you no longer need and would like to donate, drop them into the Carina Police Station at Narracott St, Carina or to my office at 5/1181 Wynnum Rd Cannon Hill.

And if you find yourself in need of a blanket or two - PLEASE get in contact! We are here to help keep you warm!

Coming Soon… exciting upgrades for Joe Bradfield Park! 👀🌳

Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas for this much-loved Carina park. Based on your feedback, Council has now received three playground concepts — and now we need to choose one!
I’d love local families to take a look at the three playground renders in the comments and let me know which one you’d most like to see installed.

Have your say here:
https://forms.gle/YxWxozhP99UhXD576
There are also some other exciting upgrades planned for Joe Bradfield Park, including:
🌳 a new pathway connecting the library, playground and existing internal pathway network
🏀 new seating near the basketball court
🏓 pickleball line markings added to the netball courts, creating two new courts
🍽️ a new BBQ and shelter area, expected in approximately 12 months
💡Lighting for the Dog Park

Thank you again for helping shape the future of Joe Bradfield Park. I can’t wait to see these improvements come to life for local families to enjoy.

Today is 65 Roses Day 🌹

If you’re heading to Westfield Carindale today, make sure you visit the Cystic Fibrosis stall near Best and Less.

The name “65 Roses” comes from a story dating back to 1965, when a young boy heard the name of his condition, cystic fibrosis, as “65 Roses.”

Since then, the rose has become a symbol of hope, strength, and resilience for the CF community.

Every rose purchased helps support families, raise awareness, and spread a little positivity throughout our community.

A big thank you to all the volunteers and supporters helping make a difference today 🌹

I’m so excited to let you know that construction on the Carina Women’s Shed is about to begin! 💛

To celebrate this incredible milestone for our community, I’d absolutely love you to join us as we officially turn sod.

Bring along a shovel and your friends on Wednesday 10 June from 2:45pm and help us celebrate this very exciting moment.

This project would not have been possible without the incredible committee who have worked tirelessly over the past three years to bring this vision to life. A very special thank you to our executive committee; Lynda, Sam, Satrina, Gail, Melissa and Brooke — love you girls!! 💕

I’d also like to sincerely thank all of our sponsors and supporters:

• Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and Brisbane City Council for financial support

Think Met Gala meets Paris Fashion Week ✨

That’s what the Lord Mayor’s Youth Advisory have been dreaming up - an event that would showcase and support local high school and TAFE students interested in fashion, design and creativity.

When they started pitching the idea to me, I found myself getting genuinely excited… thinking about possible venues, Brisbane designers who could headline the show, mentors the students and how incredible it could be for young creatives in our city.

The funny part? It was only supposed to be a business pitch exercise for their next session — a mock Council meeting.

But honestly… this idea might be too good not to bring to life 👀✨

The first time I heard of TEES, I didn’t know what it was, where it was, or what they did. I quickly learnt that it was one of the most inclusive sporting groups in our community. 💙🏃‍♀️

From toddlers to senior, TEES brings people together in such a supportive and encouraging way. Many members have also formed great friendships, with extra activities like Friday morning run club at Whites Hill Reserve.

Their TEES parkrun takeovers at Minnippi are always so much fun too, with music, dress-ups and zooper doopers.

Memberships are just $35 per year, with training every Monday and Thursday from 6:00pm–7:30pm at the Clem Jones Centre near the cricket fields.

A huge thank you as well to the committee members who put their hands up again!!

If you have not run in years or can run 10km in an hour, TEES is for you😍 pop down and say hi, they will welcome you with open arms!
