Today marks the anniversary of the national apology made by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to First Nations Peoples for the laws, policies and practices of past successive governments. The apology was never about laying blame. Rather, it was about acknowledging the forcible removal of children from their families. It was about showing empathy for the intergenerational harm caused. It was about telling the truth and calling out mistakes, even when it might feel uncomfortable. Separation anxiety is a normal part of development, especially when starting in a new learning environment.

Keep goodbyes short and positive, reassure your child of when you'll return, and talk with educators prior about the best ways to comfort and support them.

Consistent morning routines can help to minimise rushing, which helps everyone feel more relaxed, and chat with your child on the way home to ask about the highlights of their day. This emphasizes the parts they enjoyed, which you can remind them of the next morning.

Finally, remember that it’s okay to ease in gradually. Educators are accustomed to accommodating a wide range of needs right throughout the year, but especially in the early weeks. Goodbyes can feel hard, but there will be an approach that works well for your child, and your family. Together, we've got this!

As a community not for profit kindergarten we require a management committee to operate .
Being involved on a kindergarten committee is a wonderful way to support the service , staff , families and community .
Most importantly make a valuable contribution to your child’s education.
We welcome your attendance and remind families we do need at
least 25 % of our families represented for a quorum so the meeting can go ahead .

Sending out lots of wishes to our 2025 Mibbun and Ngarum friends who over the next two weeks will be heading off to prep in Qld or kindergarten class in NSW .

Well worth a share again as we head in to the next couple of weeks of transitions for our friends and families heading off to school .

After the holiday break, getting back into routine can take time.

Start gradually. Re-establish sleep schedules a few days early, involve children in preparing for the return, and keep mornings calm and predictable.

Remember, it's normal for children (and adults!) to need an adjustment period. You've got this.
