Hi, I am Paul Stevenson and I am seeking your support to run as an Independent Candidate for Fadden in this year's by-election on 15th July 2023.

I do not have any fixed policies. The reason for this is an understanding that the world changes, and Parties with fixed policies are often obstinate to change and adaptation.

Ultimately they fall short of promises delivered at election time, that become irrelevant thereafter. Rather, I have developed a set of principles, which govern my intent, and underline short-term policies and implementations. It is a set of “fair go” principles, which outlines one’s personal responsibilities in relation to those of the Federal Government.

The Labor Party has proposed a $300 incentive payment for vaccinations. They would have been better to offer a payment to cover a day off work, or child care payment to enable a vaccination. We need enabling, not incentives.

The Compassionate Australia Party calls on the ALP to show Bipartisan support for freeing the Biloela family. This might allow the Coalition to back down without losing face.

Successive governments have used Christmas Island to quarantine desperate asylum seekers from Australians. Now, the same facility is deemed not fit for purpose to quarantine India’s Covid-19. Are asylum seekers really a greater threat?

As a Psychologist, many people ask why they can’t find one who bulk bills. The issue is, that while Medicare has increased Mental Health Plans to 20 sessions, it has reduced the rebates on Telehealth sessions to 25% of our recommended fee. Most businesses run at 40% cost, rendering the rebate to around half the cost of providing the service.

The Compassionate Australia Party is disappointed to learn that, while Medicare has extended bulk billing sessions for Psychologists to 20 per year, it has reduced the rebate by one third for internet and phone sessions. Medicare won’t have to fund anything, if the Psychologists go out of business. Is this just another way to reduce funding?

The Compassionate Australia Party welcomes the Federal Government’s commitment to provide extra funding for Mental Health treatment for Emergency Services Workers. But, all of this funding goes to the Supermarket Psychology Agencies, putting the local Psychologists out of work.
