I’ll be driving past the house in Elizabeth where I grew up on the way to the gig at Peter Lehmann Winery tomorrow. Being in Adelaide always stirs up memories for me. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.. but mostly good these days. Here’s me with Mum and my younger brother, Alan.

In 1994, I was commissioned by the City of Elizabeth to produce a booklet for students, called "Elizabeth Champions". It contains profiles on prominent people who grew up in Elizabeth and many attended EHS. Here's an image of the contents and my tribute to the 'Class of 1961'. If you are interested in any of these profiles, I can upload more images. The booklet is out of print now, although I presume it's in the library somewhere.

Thanks to Sandra Munro for sharing this photo and information:
I just came across this page; lots of old memories! I was Sandra Garland, next to the teacher on the front row. The back of this photo was signed by a lot of the people in it - the ones I can read are: Sue Shayler, Jean Crofts, Ken Rossiter, Trudy Skinner, Karen Morgan, Brindio Swain, Ann Lehmann, Francis Wyatt, Lorraine Grogan, Deraly Williams, Terry Neesan, (Ann?) Elliott, Gino Mannella, Larry Fazzalari, Ann Pheland, Susie Foster, Charmaine Davia, Robert Siciliano, S(Sean?) Kirby, Bruno Papandrea, Sticky (?) Allen, Janine Hamman, Peter Kirby, George Rowan, Catherine Mcloughlin, Sean Pyper, Mark H..(?), DR E..? This was 4th year, so I guess about 1972?

I've been reading Jimmy Barnes' memoir of his childhood in Elizabeth. He went to Elizabeth West and Elizabeth high schools. His memories are confused, but I think he was at Elizabeth High in the early '70s. What amuses me was Jimmy's assessment of my old school as the most dangerous place he'd ever been! My brother went to Elizabeth West and he had a much rougher time there than I did at EHS. Yes there was bullying, but I didn't think it was that bad.
Working Class Boy
The critically acclaimed number 1 bestseller in paperback. A household name, an Australian rock icon, the elder statesman of Ozrock - there isn't an accolade or cliche that doesn't apply to Jimmy Barnes. But long before Cold Chisel and Barnesy, long before the tall tales of success and excess, there...
