🌙 One night. A powerful message. A call for real change.
And today is Dollar Match Day 💰️⭐️
This month, Frankston City Mayor Cr Sue Baker and CEO Tennille Bradley will swap comfort for cardboard, taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to shine a light on homelessness in our community.
Right now, more than 59 people are sleeping rough each night in Frankston City — the highest level in four years.
While the sleepout raises awareness, Council is also calling for action: 👉 $2.5 million in State funding to expand critical outreach services in Frankston City that help people move from the streets into safe, stable housing.
Through the Frankston & Mornington Peninsula Zero Project, we know outreach works by building trust, connecting people to support, and changing lives.
💬 “Awareness alone isn’t enough — we need investment in solutions that work.” – Mayor Cr Sue Baker
You can help too:
✅ Support the Vinnies CEO Sleepout
✅ Help raise awareness
✅ Be part of the conversation
Together, we can ensure no one in our community is left without a safe place to call home.

Wondering why buying and spending locally is so important? We’ve got the facts 👇
Did you know when you spend $100 at a local business:
🔒 $52 stays in the community
💵 That $52 is spent again and again by employees, owners, and local suppliers
💼 It creates more jobs, more income, more tax revenue, and more community investment
When you spend $100 at a chain:
💼 Only $14 stays in the local community
➗ The expenditure is divided among national supply chains, corporate headquarters and centralised payroll systems.
When we say that it PAYS to think local, we mean it – it’s not just a catchphrase.
Remember to consider what products and services exist within Frankston City first, before purchasing, making a reservation, or engaging a business from surrounding local government areas ❤️

A once-in-a-generation opportunity for Seaford 👀📢
The Victorian Government is proposing to remove the level crossings at Armstrongs Road and Station Street in Seaford, creating safer and more reliable journeys by eliminating the need for boom gates 🚆
But this project is about more than traffic flow. It presents a rare opportunity to reshape Seaford as a safer, better-connected and more liveable coastal community 🤝🌊
Council is working closely with the State Government to help deliver the best possible outcome for Seaford, but you can have your say too.

What you should do:
The Victoria State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet.
* Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Stay indoors and away from windows.
* If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. Heavy rainfall may also increase the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
* Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am AEST Thursday.
