Over past years, complaints have been received from residents nearby the Showgrounds about the way patrons for major events, like the Mudgeeraba Show, park in the area. After several years of parking inspection and enforcement, a new Event Precinct has been established, which will mean local on-street parking will only be available via permit. Patrons will need to park elsewhere and use the free shuttle service, or use the designated paid parking areas for a fee.
Here's the official word;
Implementation of the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds Traffic Area (events only)
• In recent years, there has been an increase in the scale and occurrence of events at the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds. This has resulted in overflow parking on surrounding streets, which can lead to safety, amenity and traffic issues that impact local residents.
• The new traffic area will be activated around the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds during events only.
• On-street parking within this Traffic Area will be restricted to two minutes during events unless otherwise signed. This is consistent with existing event-based Traffic Areas at Carrara and Robina stadiums.
• Residents who need parking permits to park on street during events can apply via - https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/Services/Roads-transport-parking/Parking/Parking-permits
• Use the map below to help you identify whether you live in this designated traffic area. Or visit https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/Services/Roads-transport-parking/Parking/Traffic-areas/Mudgeeraba-Showgrounds-event-parking
FAQ’s
• Benefits of a Traffic Area
- To reduce traffic congestion in the area during events
- To discourage parking and driving to the area when events are on
- Encourage alternative forms of travel to the area
- Encourage patrons to plan how they will travel to the event
• Will all residents be given a parking permit within the Traffic Area?
- Residents who need a permit will need to apply and meet eligibility criteria via https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/Services/Roads-transport-parking/Parking/Parking-permits
• When will the Traffic Area be activated or be regulated by enforcement officers?
- Time-limited parking only exists on event days. Eligible residents can apply for parking permits for use on such days.
The following applies on event days only:
- two-minute parking on event days
- The Traffic Area two minute parking requirement does not apply where existing timed parking restrictions are in place. For example, on event days, a signed one hour parking limit in a Traffic Area car park continues to apply.
• Parking time limits apply on every street within the Traffic Area. Signs show where the Traffic Area starts and ends and describes the days and times that time-limited parking applies.
• Not all streets within the Traffic Area are signed. You are responsible for checking whether you are parking within the Traffic Area and complying with its time limits.

It was awesome to witness the awarding of the Gold Coast Australian of the Year awards this evening at Skypoint at Q1. I’m always impressed with the diversity of nominees across all manner of different pursuits in the city, from business to charity to sport to disability services to youth work. It really is inspiring.
This year Anna-Louise Kassulke from Gold Coast Recreation & Sport Inc. picked up the big gong for her work over 40 years serving in the disability sector.
Jesse Noonan picked up the Local Hero award for his work helping people with mobility issues learn to skateboard.
Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew picked up Gold Coast Senior Australian of the Year for his work in the surfing and charitable sectors.
Fellow Bondie Ruby Allen was awarded Gold Coast Young Australian for her work with Kids of Purple, a charity helping younger people manage circumstances involving DFV in our community. She’s a legend.
It was a great night. Well done everyone!

From 1 July there'll be changes to the waste services provided to Springbrook, Numinbah and Natural Bridge.
The Numinbah Transfer Station will be closed. Fences are being erected to close the site off.
If you want to drop off waste for landfill at Springbrook it'll be $5 at the gate.
If you are dropping off recycling or green waste (only) your visit is free.
The transfer station in Springbrook will be open Friday to Monday (inclusive) 7am to 4.50pm.
In Numinbah and Natural Bridge we've had chats with residents in Pocket Rd, Staffords Rd, and Bakers Rd (amongst other streets) and negotiated a few deals with JJ Richards for kerbside bin collection. I've also been informed that the bulk waste contractors who already service places like the jail or other properties may be able to be engaged for commercial waste services for local farms with rural access issues.
If you haven't made an arrangement with us, please contact my office on [email protected] and we'll have one of the waste services team contact you to help.
