🎅🚨 WANTED: ONE VERY IMPORTANT MAN IN RED! 🚨🎅

🎄 BENDIGO FIRE BRIGADE NEEDS A SANTA! 🎄

Well folks, we've got ourselves a bit of a Christmas emergency! 🚒🎅

It turns out even Santa isn't immune to the cost-of-living crisis! 💸 Our usual jolly man in red has picked up a side hustle (because apparently delivering presents to the entire world doesn't pay the bills anymore! 😂).

So, Bendigo Fire Brigade is officially on the hunt for a Santa look-alike to help spread some Christmas cheer this December! 🎁

🎅 DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO FILL SANTA'S BOOTS?

We're looking for someone who:

🎄 Has that classic Santa look (a decent, natural white beard would be a HUGE bonus!).

🎄 Has a jolly personality and loves spreading Christmas cheer!

🎄 Is available for multiple events throughout December, sometimes with as little as one week's notice.

🎄 Enjoys interacting with children, families and the wider community.

🎄 Can deliver a convincing "HO HO HO!" without sounding like they've just run up a flight of stairs!

🎄Need to have a current WWCC.

🎅 WHAT DO WE PROVIDE?

Don't worry about raiding the North Pole's wardrobe! Bendigo Fire Brigade will supply the full Santa outfit and all the equipment you need! 🎅🎁

All we need is someone who looks the part, brings the Christmas spirit and is willing to help make some magical memories for our community!

We're excited to be joining the Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club (BAREC) at the 2026 Bendigo RadioFest TODAY!

With the warmer weather approaching and the fire season just around the corner, our firefighters will be there to help you and your family GET FIRE READY! 🔥🏡

👨‍🚒 Come along, meet some of our friendly Bendigo Fire Brigade members and have a chat about:

🔥 Preparing your home and property for fire season.

🏡 Understanding your local fire risks.

📱 Staying informed about Fire Danger Ratings, warnings and emergency information.

🚒 Having a fire plan in place to keep you and your loved ones safe.

A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE.
At Bendigo Fire Brigade, we know that not every emergency is visible.
Members of our community — including firefighters and other emergency service personnel — can face stress, grief, trauma, depression and difficult moments that others may never see.
Sometimes the most important thing we can do is notice when someone isn’t themselves and ask:
“ARE YOU OK?”
You don’t need to be an expert.
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to be willing to listen.

CHECK IN
For firefighters, looking after each other is just as important as looking after our community.
Checking on your mates is not a sign of weakness.
It’s part of having their back.
And if someone asks you if you’re OK, you don’t have to automatically say “I’m fine.”
It’s OK to tell someone when you’re struggling.

A Walk Down Memory Lane 🚒❤️

This morning, members of the Bendigo Fire Brigade had the privilege of touring our former home on View Street – a building that holds countless memories and an important place in our brigade's history.
As we walked through the old station, every room seemed to spark another story. Members shared memories of emergency call-outs, training nights, lifelong friendships, and the many moments that shaped not only our brigade but also the people who served within its walls. 🧑‍🚒

For some, it was a chance to relive decades of service. For our newer members, it was a unique opportunity to hear firsthand what life was like at View Street and to better understand the proud legacy we continue to build upon today.

While our brigade has moved forward with new facilities and equipment, the spirit of service, camaraderie, and community that began in this historic station remains as strong as ever.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make today's visit possible and to those who shared their stories. Preserving our history reminds us where we've come from and inspires us for the future.

❄️🚒 Monday Night Training 🚒❄️
While the temperatures may have dropped, our members were still hard at work tonight, swapping hoses and helmets for notebooks and learning materials.
This evening's training focused on fire alarms and sprinkler systems, helping our firefighters build their understanding of the systems designed to detect and suppress fires before they become major incidents. These theory sessions are an important part of maintaining and developing the knowledge required to keep our community safe.
Training doesn't always happen on the fireground – sometimes the most valuable lessons are learned in the classroom.
A big thank you to everyone who braved the cold and attended tonight's session. Your commitment ensures Bendigo Fire Brigade remains ready to respond whenever the call comes.
