Meet the newest member of our team: Kelly Sissons!

Kelly joins us as our new Field Officer / Management Committee Support. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Earth Science) from JCU and brings hands-on experience from the Wet Tropics Management Authority's Yellow Crazy Ant eradication team, as well as regional tree planting groups.

She has already hit the ground running with our relocation, and looks forward to meeting everyone around the nursery, at our upcoming planting days, and at our new Gordonvale office once we are settled in.

Please join us in giving Kelly a warm welcome in the comments below!

It’s full steam ahead at the Turtle, our new nursery site. The team have been working overtime and supported by our committee members and volunteers. The site is almost ready to start moving plants from the Old Fire Station.

Volunteer nursery mornings (Tues and Thurs from 8am) will continue this week at our current venue - we need help with seed sorting, packing boxes. And hopefully from Thursday, we will start moving some smaller loads before the truck next week.

If you have a covered trailer or Ute, we would love your help on Thursday 😊

Thank you again everyone for your hard work, support and dedication 🌳🍃🌱

WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🌱

As you know, we must move out of the old fire station by 16 October. We are excited to transition to our new premises—The Turtle, our new nursery, and our Gordonvale office!

The team has been busy prepping the sites, but we would love a helping hand with the move.

This Week (Tuesday & Thursday Mornings): Help us empty the shipping container at the nursery.

Next Week (Tuesday & Thursday): we are aiming for The Big Move (if all site preparations have been completed)!

Once everything is ready at The Turtle, we are moving 30,000+ trees.
We are hiring a truck but will need extra hands, Utes, and trailers to get the job done.

If you can lend a hand or a vehicle, please message us directly!

We will update again at the end of the week if we are all ready to go!!!!
Thank you for your support. 💚

🌱 Huge thank you to our amazing community! 🌱

What an incredible afternoon we had at Rossi Lagoon on Sunday! A massive shoutout to the 62 volunteers who joined us - together, we managed to plant 1,863 trees in just 1 hour and 20 minutes! ⏱️🌳 Huge team effort!

After all that hard work, everyone earned their burgers and cold drinks at the end, and even a mini concert by a former Australian Idol. 🍔🥤

Thank you to Tony Rossi and the Rossi family for all of their hard to work prepare the site and make the afternoon such a success.

A special thank you to the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). This planting session was made possible through funding from the Grassroots Environmental Grants program.

This grant also enabled us to purchase and experiment with the water blaster which worked well even though this was our first time using it. At this wetland site, being able to create holes for plants on the steep slope at the water's edge without the need for heavy augers was fantastic. I am sure the blaster will allow us to prepare sites faster with less physical stress on our field staff, which will make our work safer, especially as we head into the hotter months toward the end of the year.

Thank you again to everyone who came out to support us and help restore our local environment.
We couldn't do it without you! 💚
