The Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) will commence within Southern Tablelands from tomorrow 1st of October.

This includes the following local government areas:

• Goulburn Mulwaree
• Upper Lachlan
• Yass Valley

From this date, anyone intending to conduct a pile burn or other permitted burn must obtain a Fire Permit before lighting the fire.
Obtaining a permit is only one part of the process. If you are planning to undertake a burn, please follow these important steps:

1).Check

Before applying for a permit, confirm your burn can be undertaken safely and legally by assessing the burn, surrounding fuels, weather conditions, available equipment, and site-specific risks.

2).Obtain a Permit

During the Bush Fire Danger Period, a valid Fire Permit is required before lighting your burn.
Apply online at: https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp

3).Notify

Once suitable conditions have been identified and you intend to proceed, you must provide at least 24 hours' notice before lighting your burn.

You are required to:

• Notify the NSW RFS online via the Guardian portal:https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp
• Notify all adjoining neighbours of your intention to burn

🚒🔥 7 DAYS UNTIL FIRE SEASON STARTS! 🔥🚒

This is your LAST WEEKEND for pile burns before the Bush Fire Danger Period begins on 1 October.

⚠️ We cannot stress enough please check the weather conditions and wind forecasts before lighting any fires!
🍃 Be aware of wind speed and sudden changes in wind direction.
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended and ensure it is completely extinguished.
💧 Have plenty of water and firefighting equipment readily available.
📞 Notify your neighbours and the NSW RFS before lighting your burn.

Remember, just because you can burn doesn't mean you should! If conditions aren't suitable, please postpone your burn. No pile of rubbish is worth risking lives, homes or property.
Let's work together to keep our community safe this fire season.

🚨 PARKESBOURNE & YARRA DISTRICTS – WE NEED YOU! 🚨

Without volunteers, our truck doesn’t turn out.

That means:
🔥 Reduced protection from bushfires.
🚗 Less assistance at motor vehicle accidents.
🏠 Limited resources available at house fires.
❤️ Fewer local volunteers ready to help when our community needs it most.

Parkesbourne Rural Fire Service Brigade is looking for new volunteers to join our team before the upcoming fire season.

You don’t need any experience—we’ll provide all the training you need. All you have to do is sign up and show up.

Now is the perfect time to join and become qualified to help protect your community.

Whether you’re 18 or 68, if you have a willingness to learn and a desire to make a difference, we’d love to have you on the team.
