Book Week was a fantastic hit at Comet State School this week! Our students and staff embraced the fun by dressing up as their favourite book characters, and we certainly had some wonderful and creative costumes on display. One student even arrived with her very own pony, Creamy, making the day extra special!

We were also very fortunate to welcome local author Angela Kettle to our school. Angela has recently published her wonderful book, Becky the Beef Farmer, which follows the story of a female farmer. Angela saw a need for more books featuring strong female farming characters and set out to help fill that gap.

Angela shared her book with our students, reading Becky the Beef Farmer to everyone and talking about her inspiration for writing the story. To make the visit even more special, every student was gifted with a copy of the book!

We are incredibly grateful to Angela for her generosity and for sharing her love of reading and storytelling with our students. Thank you for encouraging our young readers and helping them see themselves and their communities reflected in books. We can't wait to see what adventures are in store in the next book in the series!

Reading plays an important part in a child's life. Encouraging children to read, explore stories and develop a love of books helps them on a wonderful learning journey.

Thank you, Angela, for helping make Book Week at Comet State School so memorable!
