🐾 BARKRUN DIARIES — MEET JACK! 🐾
Hello Heathcote! Jack here. 👋🐶
Apparently I’ve been given the very important job of launching Barkrun Diaries at McIvor Creek Trail parkrun, Heathcote.
My official title?
Chief Happiness Officer.
I think it suits me. 😌
My qualifications include being a Pet Therapy Dog, a bit of a Heathcote local icon, and having many years of experience in the highly specialised fields of pats, smiles and making people’s day better.
Each Wednesday, one of my four-legged friends will be taking over Barkrun Diaries. We’ll introduce you to some of the pooches who join their humans at McIvor Creek Trail parkrun — and, while we’re here, we might teach our humans a thing or two about being a responsible barkrunner. 🐕🦺
So, as your inaugural Chief Happiness Officer, here is my first official Barkrun reminder:
🐾 One dog per parkrunner.
🐾 Keep us on a short, hand-held, non-extendable lead.
🐾 Please don’t use a waist harness at parkrun.
🐾 Keep us under control and close to you throughout the event.
🐾 Start in a position where you and your pooch are comfortable and considerate of everyone around you.
🐾 And remember — our humans are responsible for us (including dealing with any little… ahem… deposits we may leave behind). 💩
Most importantly, parkrun is for everyone. Walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers, children, grown-ups — and those of us arriving on four paws.
We share the trail, give each other space and look after one another.
That’s how we make Saturday mornings safe, welcoming and fun for everyone. ❤️
I’ll be keeping an eye on things, of course.
Chief Happiness Officer responsibilities and all that. 😎🐾
Next Wednesday I’ll hand Barkrun Diaries over to another member of the McIvor Creek Trail canine community.
Who will it be? 👀🐶
Until then…
🐾Paws. People. parkrun.
See you Saturday!
