Gosford Bulk Water - NSW RFS

Today at 1:04pm our pagers were activated for a grass fire at Calga, on the first Total Fire Ban for the season.
We had all 3 appliances attend and have been hard at work supplying water to the multiple tankers battling this grass and bush fire.
Thankfully fire crews have gained the upper hand and the fire is now under control.

Fresh crews are currently arriving to swap out with those that have been battling this blaze. These fresh crews will continue to patrol the fireground tonight.

Just a reminder to everyone about today's Hazard Reduction.
We finally have that ideal window to carry out this much needed reduction burn.

A hazard reduction (HR) burn is scheduled for Saturday 8th August 2026. This HR will be in the Mount White area.

🚨 NSW RFS Training Activity – Kariong APZ 🚨

Residents in the Kariong area may notice increased fire brigade activity on Saturday, 30 May.
The NSW RFS Central Coast Volunteer Groups 5 and 7 will be conducting a training exercise in the Kariong APZ starting from 9:00am through to approximately 4:00pm.

🔥 During the day you may see:
Fire trucks operating in the area
Water being applied into surrounding bushland
Flashing red and blue lights
Occasional use of sirens or horns

✅ Please note:
This is a planned training exercise - not a real emergency.

For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask residents to:
Keep a safe distance from training activities
Follow any directions from NSW RFS personnel on site

We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any temporary noise or inconvenience. This training helps ensure local brigades are ready for the upcoming fire season.

If you've ever thought about joining but you aren't too keen on standing in front of the flames fighting the fire, then this opportunity would be great for you. If you'd like some excitement with fire, then we also have our Cat 6 Tanker!!
We are currently looking for new members to join our brigade.
We have a multitude of tasks that we undertake to assist our community and you can be sure that there's something there that you will enjoy.
We train twice a month on a Thursday Night anywhere from 6pm onwards.
We are a very close-knit brigade where every member feels like family.

We have 3 appliances with each one having some different capabilities on top of just suppying water.

Our new Volvo with trailer, transports our biggest quantity of water, and at times the prime mover gets utilized not only within NSW but also interstate for logistical purposes.
We have a Scania which is our 6 Wheel Drive off-road appliance that not only carries out bulk water transportation but can also be utilized as a recovery vehicle.
And lastly our Isuzu Cat 6 Tanker. This appliance has the capacity of not only transporting bulk water but can also be utilized as a front-line appliance when needed.
