A lovely four nights away with family to celebrate a very special wedding. Amazing food, beautiful moments and, most importantly, even better company. 🥂💍

It was pretty special to slow down, enjoy some family time and make memories together. Grateful for the little breaks that remind us what really matters. ❤️

🗳️ FINAL DAYS TO VOTE!

If you’ve received your postal vote, please make sure your completed envelope is in a post box by Friday, 2 October.

It’s been a big few weeks of meeting residents, listening to your concerns and standing up for Lockwood Ward and now we’re down to the final days!

I’ve had to sneak away from the campaign trail for a family wedding in the Hunter Valley. Tough job… but someone had to stop at Bondi Beach along the way! 😎🌊

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to chat, ask questions, share your concerns, attend a meet-and-greet or simply say hello. It has meant so much.

Emily Edgar, Local Standing Up for Lockwood Ward. 💙

Another beautiful day to get out and enjoy what our region has to offer! ☀️

Today we enjoyed a ride on the miniature railway at Harcourt before taking in the views from the lookout at the TV station.

It’s days like this that remind me just how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of Victoria, with so many wonderful places right on our doorstep.

Campaigning is important, but so is making the most of the community and region we’re working so hard to represent. ❤️

A beautiful day, beautiful views and plenty of family memories made along the way.

A beautiful night at the our local football netball club presentation night tonight. 🏆

Footy clubs are so much more than what happens on the field. They are the heart of so many small communities, a place where people come together, kids grow up surrounded by community, friendships are made, and everyone has a role to play.

And behind every successful club are the volunteers. The people who run the canteen, put up the goal posts, manage teams, coach, umpire, do first aid, organise events, wash dishes, sell raffle tickets and somehow find the time to keep everything moving.

I know firsthand just how much goes into it. My weekends have been filled with footy for years, and I’ve seen the commitment, the laughs, the frustrations and the pride that comes with being part of a club.

It was lovely to celebrate the players, coaches, volunteers and families tonight and recognise everything they contribute to our community.

BREP isn’t just a Bendigo project, it matters to Lockwood Ward.

The Bendigo Regional Employment Precinct is planned for 294 hectares of land directly south of Marong, with the potential to bring thousands of jobs and significant industrial development to our area.

That means change.

And when we talk about change, we need to talk about what comes with it.

🚗 Traffic and road safety
🚛 Heavy vehicle movements and freight
🛣️ Road and intersection upgrades
💧 Drainage and stormwater
🏘️ Pressure from growth around Marong and surrounding areas
🌳 Protecting the rural character of our communities
🏗️ Making sure infrastructure keeps pace with development

The planning work already identifies the need for upgrades to key intersections around Marong and recognises the importance of the future Marong Western Freight Corridor to the success of the precinct.

This is exactly why I’m running.

I’m not running to simply sit at a council table and vote on what is put in front of me.

I’m running because Lockwood Ward needs someone who understands what these decisions mean on the ground.

As someone who lives in Marong, raises my family here and is involved in our community, I see the opportunities that growth can bring, but I also understand that growth needs to be planned properly and supported by the infrastructure our communities actually need.

We shouldn’t be playing catch-up.

We need to be asking the hard questions before the trucks arrive, before the roads become overwhelmed and before infrastructure falls behind.

BREP is going to be a significant project for Greater Bendigo.

Lockwood Ward deserves a strong voice in what happens next.

Postal votes are on their way, so keep an eye out for yours in the mailbox! 📮

When you’re choosing your councillors, make sure you number every candidate from 1–6.

✏️ 1.
✏️ 2.
✏️ 3.
✏️ 4.
✏️ 5.
✏️ 6.

Every number counts, and every vote is an opportunity to have your say about who represents our community.

And yes… one of the little perks of living in the ward you’re putting your hand up to represent is being able to cast your own vote! 😜

The Experience Behind the Candidate

When people ask me what experience I bring to the role of councillor, I could talk about my qualifications and career. But it’s about more than a list of jobs and titles, it’s about what each experience has taught me and how I can bring those lessons to representing Lockwood Ward.

👩‍🏫 Teacher: Listening, understanding different needs and adapting to help people succeed.

🌱 Childcare Director: Leadership, responsibility, compliance and the importance of creating a safe, supportive environment.

🏡 Neighbourhood House: Understanding the importance of community connection, inclusion and giving people a place to belong.

💙 Youth Facilitator: Working with young people, building relationships and creating positive opportunities.

🌿 Resilience Canopy Facilitator Training: Learning how to bring people together, facilitate conversations and build community resilience.

🏦 Bank Board Member: Understanding governance, accountability and the importance of responsible financial decision-making.

🏉 Local Football Club Volunteer: Showing up for local families, supporting our community and being part of something bigger than yourself.

🚜 Growing Up Rural: Learning the value of service, resilience, looking out for your neighbours and rolling up your sleeves when help is needed.

👩‍👧‍👦 Being a Mum: Perhaps my greatest teacher of all. Raising a teenager and a toddler has taught me empathy, patience, adaptability and that one solution doesn't fit everyone.

All of these experiences have shaped who I am.

They have taught me how to listen, work with people, take responsibility, ask questions and keep showing up, even when things are challenging.

I’m not running for councillor because I think I have all the answers. I’m running because I care about our community, I understand the importance of listening to different perspectives, and I want to help make sure Lockwood Ward has a strong, practical and genuine voice around the council table.

I’m Emily Edgar, a mum, teacher, volunteer, community advocate and proud local.

A local who will listen, represent with integrity and roll up her sleeves to get things done. 💙

What a week!

Three meet and greets, work, delivering a few flyers, coreflutes going up around the ward, and all the usual mum-life chaos in between!

There’s been speech therapy, swimming lessons, and dance for my youngest, surgery for my eldest, and of course, the local footy grand final.

Somewhere amongst all of that, I’ve been trying to keep up with home life, family and everything that comes with being a mum.

It’s been a busy one, but a really rewarding week. Getting out into the community, meeting locals, and having those important conversations. It’s exactly why I’m putting my hand up to represent Lockwood Ward.

I’m a mum, a teacher, a community volunteer and a local.

Even when life is busy and I’m juggling a million things, I believe in showing up for my community, lending a hand and being someone people can count on. Being a good community person isn’t just about having spare time; it’s about making the time, caring about others and doing what you can.

I’ve been listening and the concerns are clear.

Local services. Transparency. Fairness. Feeling heard.

These aren’t the only issues, but they’re some already raised with me by our community.

If elected, I will advocate strongly, ask the hard questions, and make sure our community’s voice is heard where it matters.
