The last few months has been dominated by discussion about the Stage 3 tax cuts, and whether they should proceed or not.

This article shows just how much people support tax cuts. When you take them away, it causes anger and disappointment. Granted though a lot of people don't understand the taxation system, and refunds should always be minimal as you should be deducted the accurate amount of tax by your employer.

I'm guessing a lot of the people in this article were previously for scrapping the Stage 3 tax cuts, and are now re-evaluating their stance.

‘Does Australia hate us?’: Tax return outrage If you have been scrolling on social media this week, you have probably come across at least one person complaining about their tax return.

When I tuned in to Offsiders last week, I instantly took note of the fact an ABC Political reporter was wearing a pin showing what side of the Voice campaign she supported.

Let that sink in - a political reporter for the National broadcaster, who has a charter to remain free of political bias, is publicly showing her colours.

Add that to the very emotive language used in this article and its clear the ABC is taking the mickey with regards to holding up its obligations under the charter.

ABC reporter bizarre ‘genocide’ claim An ABC reporter has come under fire for making a bizarre, false claim, on the public broadcaster’s flagship weekend political show, that Indigenous Australians are subject to “ongoing genocide”.

Saw this story in the news last week. Basically, a man was upset at the raising of the pension age because he cant work a labour intensive job until he's 67.

Anyone can retire at any age. You are not required by law to only retire at 67, that is the age the government will start paying pensions. If you fund your own Super more, you can retire much earlier.

My personal experience is that a lot of tradies are self employed and typically dont pay a great deal of attention to Superannuation. Thus when they retire, they are reliant on the aged care pension as their primary source of income.

This is another example of an individual not paying enough attention to planning for their financial future and just waiting for the handout to start.

Man’s sign resonates with thousands of Aussies A recently resurfaced photo of a hardworking tradie expressing his concerns about gradually lifting the retirement age has gained significant support online.

The issue: Inflation is still too high, interest rates are going up and some people want the RBA governor, Phillip Lowe, sacked for some of his comments.

CSPA thoughts: Lowe is 100% accurate with what he is saying, but some people just don't like hearing a tough truth.

It might sound extremely basic, but the two ways of getting more money is to either:
1. Not spend as much, or
2. Earn more.

Lowe is an economist, not a politician. His remit is to govern the central bank monetary policy. It is not his role to consider the "human impacts". His job right now is to get inflation back to 3%, and he would never be able to achieve that if he played the nice guy. He needs to get people to stop spending their money, to bring inflation down.

According to the ABS, retail spending figures remained strong last month, with spending at department stores actually increasing! In addition to that, the AFL for example have record crowd numbers, so its not as if people are sacrificing discretional spending just yet. We have also not seen a visible wave of repossessed houses to the levels fear-mongered previously..

It seems like people still have money to spend and are continuing to do so. Therefore inflation will remain high and interest rates will continue to climb.

Meanwhile, government policy continues to promote mass handouts due to their popularity and these need to cease immediately. What do you think power companies are going to do when they find out people have $250 in their pockets? Raise their prices of course. Belt tightening to bring inflation down cannot occur when respective governments give free money out in efforts to be reelected.
