My lodi Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani! Ang galing mo talaga! Sanaol!

Zohran Mamdani just erased a $12 BILLION deficit with zero service cuts and zero new taxes on regular New Yorkers. Republicans said it was impossible. They lied.

Remember six months ago when every Republican pundit, every Fox News host, and every billionaire-funded think tank was screaming that Zohran Mamdani would destroy New York City? That his "democratic socialist" agenda was economic su***de? That the math didn't work?

The math worked.

Mamdani just announced he completely wiped out the $12 billion budget deficit that the wildly corrupt Eric Adams left behind. No public service cuts. No new taxes on working New Yorkers. None of the austerity nightmare Republicans promised was the only option.

Here's how he actually did it. He secured $8 billion in new state assistance. He passed a pied-ร -terre tax on second homes valued over $5 million, which means billionaires who use Manhattan apartments as glorified parking spots for their money are finally paying their fair share. The ultra-wealthy are losing their minds about it. Everyone else is cheering.

Then he found nearly $2 billion in savings by doing the most boring thing imaginable: actually running the government competently. Reducing overtime. Renegotiating contracts. Updating ancient software. Consolidating leases. Phasing out programs nobody was using. Collecting revenue the city was already owed.

The kind of basic management that every Republican claims to support and never actually does.

And after all that, he still had enough left over to put $2 billion back into the rainy day fund and $5.2 billion into the Retiree Health Benefit Trust.

So let's review. The "fiscally responsible" Republicans gave Eric Adams a fawning thumbs-up while he ballooned the deficit to its highest level since the Great Recession. The "socialist who would destroy the economy" walked in, taxed the right people, ran the government like an adult, and turned the whole thing around in months.

Every single talking point about democratic socialism being unworkable just got demolished by reality. Every single claim that Republicans are the party of fiscal discipline just got buried under their own record. And every billionaire who threatened to flee the city if Mamdani won is now stuck watching the city thrive while they pay a tax they can easily afford.

Tax the rich. Run the government competently. Watch the deficit disappear.
It really was that simple the whole time. They just didn't want you to know.

WATCH | Deputy Minister Eddie M. Alih officially opened the 8th Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting on the Sulu Transition, marking a significant step forward in ensuring a seamless transition to Region IX.

In his message, DM Alih expressed his deepest gratitude to former Secretary Carlito Galvez for his years of dedicated service to the peace process. He also extended a warm welcome to Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, expressing full confidence in his new leadership as they navigate the critical path ahead together.

DM Alih also shared his special thanks to Minister Jordan S. Bayam for his continued trust and for allowing him to keep leading this vital TWG.

See full message below โ€”

Bismillah, Alhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ala Rasulillah wa ala alihi waasbihi ajmain. Amma baad.

Our distinguished Co-Chair, Hon. Secretary Rolando U. Toledo of the Department of Budget and Management, Hon. Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento of OPAPRU, esteemed colleagues and partners from the National Government and the Bangsamoro Government, and fellow dedicated public servants,

Assalamuโ€™alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon us all, a peaceful afternoon to all of us.

Before we begin our discussion, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the shifting leadership landscape within our peace and transition architecture.

First, I wish to express my profound gratitude to the former Secretary of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), Sec. Carlito Galvez, for his dedicated service and steadfast commitment to the Sulu transition. Looking ahead, we are confident that the new leadership of Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento will provide the vision and guidance necessary to navigate this final stretch. We look forward to the expertise he brings to the OPAPRU during this critical period.

I also want to personally thank the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), Honorable Minister Jordan S. Bayam, for allowing me to continue to Chair the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Sulu Transition. It is an honor to continue this work alongside all of you.

Since our last gathering on April 8, we have made significant strides toward our transition goals. Following our meeting with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on April 30 to finalize the draft Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC), we have moved closer to ensuring clear and stable options for our affected personnel. Furthermore, our coordination with TESDA has been fruitful, as they have already provided the approved copy of their Joint Memorandum with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), which effectively secures the continuity of vital vocational services for the province.

As we open today's session, our focus shifts toward the administrative and legal scaffolding required for a seamless 2026 fiscal year.

Rather than simply going through a list of items, we are here today to look forward at how we can solidify the Bangsamoro Government's authority to implement programs and appropriate necessary funds for the Province of Sulu. Our discussion will center on refining the justifications and provisions of the current Executive Orders to ensure they reflect the practical realities of governance on the ground. We are also aiming to bring more clarity to the inter-agency personnel guidelines so that every civil servant has a clear path forward as we approach our June deadlines.

The transition to Region IX is a complex undertaking, but our progress thus far proves that through shared responsibility, we can ensure stability and continuity for our people.

Let us begin our deliberations. Wa billahi tawfiq wal hidaya wassalamu alaykum warahmatulla
