Mother’s Day 2026 07/05/2026

💕Mother’s Day 💕
This morning we hosted breakfast to celebrate Mother’s Day with our mums, grandmothers and all those who care for us as a mum. We acknowledge the important role mums have and sincerely thank them for all that they do to support the kids in our school community. You are AMAZING! 🩷🩷

We also wish to acknowledge and thank the team who worked tirelessly to plan our Mother’s Day celebration. A huge thank you to Jackie Boniface, Jess Harding, Bec Graham and Kristin Lees, together with our chefs (dads and grandparents) Daniel, Sam, Jacob, Andrew, Shayne and Kevin. Also, thank you to Tarah Cook, who was kept very busy making coffees! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Don’t forget to watch the Mother’s Day video in the link below! 😍😍

✨ Heggerty - Phonemic Awareness ✨

One of the most important first steps in learning to read and write is developing phonemic awareness — the ability to hear, notice and play with the sounds in words.

It might sound simple, but this skill is a big part of how children learn to read, spell and write with confidence.

At our school, we build these skills every day through our phonics program, Jolly Phonics, alongside a fun and engaging program called Heggerty.

Heggerty is a short, hands-on daily routine where students practise listening carefully to sounds, breaking words apart and putting them back together again. With choral responses, actions and hand movements, it’s interactive, playful and something our students really enjoy.

From Prep to Grade 2, students spend just 5 minutes each day building these strong early literacy foundations. In Grades 3–6, Heggerty is also used as a targeted intervention tool, helping teachers focus on the specific skills individual students still need to strengthen.

These small daily moments make a big difference, helping our students grow into confident readers, writers and spellers!

Yesterday we held our MEPS Masters Gold Day at the beautiful Gardiners Run Golf Club, and it was a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone who attended. The course was in outstanding condition and provided a great challenge, along with plenty of laughs and friendly competition throughout the day.

A big thank you goes to our generous sponsors for their support: On Course Golf (Leigh Hughes), Gardiners Run Golf Club and House of Golf Ringwood. Their support helped make the day a great success.

Congratulations to our overall winners - the team of Brad, Phil, Josh & Jarred, who played some excellent golf to take out the 2026 title by 1 shot!

Well done also to our novelty prize winners:
Longest Drive - Andrew Daley
Nearest the Pin - Luke Giamantonio

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such an enjoyable event. It was great to see members of the MEPS community come together for a relaxed and fun day on the course.

Next year's MEPS Masters Golf Day is already locked in for 28th February, so make sure you put the date in your calendars.⛳️
