🚨If you see the CFA on scene, please slow down🚨
Our volunteers are working to keep the community safe, and your safety matters too. We’ve just come from a job where multiple vehicles drove past at unsafe speeds — putting everyone at risk.
Please take care when approaching emergency scenes, reduce your speed, and be aware of crews working on or near the road.
Let’s all do our part to keep each other safe. ❤️🚒

Today we remember Ash Wednesday — 16 February 1983.
A day etched into Victoria’s history. 75 lives were lost across Victoria and South Australia, thousands of homes were destroyed, and entire communities were changed forever.
We honour those who lost their lives, stand with the families who continue to carry this loss, and acknowledge the strength and resilience shown in the years since.
We also recognise the courage of firefighters, volunteers, and local communities who faced unimaginable conditions with determination and bravery.
We conttinue to remember, prepare, and support one another.

⚠️⚠️PROPERTY PREP BEFORE TUESDAY'S SPIKE DAY! ⚠️⚠️
Whether you’re a long-time local or new to the area, keeping your property prepared isn't just a chore—it’s a fire safety essential. High temperatures and dry winds can turn small hazards into big risks in minutes.
Use this checklist to ensure your home and landscape is ready and prepared before Tuesday 27th Jan. 🛡️
🌿 Vegetation Management
Keep your garden "lean, clean, and green" to create a critical defensible space around your home.
Lawn Care: Keep grass mowed to less than 10cm.
Trees: Trim lower branches to create a "canopy gap" and ensure no branches are within 10m of buildings.
Shrubs: Prune and keep them well away from windows.
Mulch: Swap out flammable organic mulch for gravel, pebbles, or rocks.
🏠 House Maintenance & Protection
Embers can travel kilometres ahead of a fire. Don't give them a place to land!
Gutters: Clear out leaf litter and debris.
Embers: Install metal mesh screens on all windows and doors.
Sealing: Check for gaps in walls, roofs, and underfloor areas; seal them up!
Decks: Keep decks clear of twigs, leaves, and flammable outdoor furniture.
⛽ Fuel & Hazard Storage
Woodpiles: Move firewood and timber well away from the main structure.
Liquids: Store paints, fuels, and chemicals in a shed away from the house.
LPG Cylinders: Ensure they are secured on a firm base with safety valves pointed away from the building.
💧 Equipment Check
Test your hoses, pumps, and sprinkler systems to ensure they are in top working order.
Check your water tanks and static water supplies to ensure they are full and accessible.
Pro Tip: Have a BATTERY OPERATED RADIO encase of power outages or poor reception.

☀️It’s going to be a hot week across Victoria, with a heatwave starting from today and continuing through until Friday. There will be little to no relief from high temperatures overnight, particularly for northern and eastern parts of the state.
People in areas where extreme intensity heat is forecast should be aware that this can make anyone sick. Severe intensity heat is more dangerous for people over 65 years old, the very young and those with a pre-existing medical condition.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s map of heatwave conditions across Victoria is on its website: https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/specialised-forecasts-and-observations/heatwave
🔥Today has also been declared a day of Total Fire Ban across the whole state. This means no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air, including campfires and some barbecues.
An Extreme Fire Danger Rating has been forecast in the South West and Wimmera today. The rest of the state has a High Fire Danger Rating.
You should reconsider staying or camping in bushfire risk areas on Extreme days.
📱Stay safe, Victoria. Make sure you download the VicEmergency app and set up a watch zone for wherever you will be today.
