Please have patience with our VFRS members at the moment, we currently have 3 incidents on the go and our crews are stretched a bit thin. If you see us moving around town with lights and sirens please remember to give way πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ”₯

Today our hearts are heavy with the news of one of our former members wife passing away.
To the Cumbers family, Tim, Wayne, Jen and Stevie, our thoughts are with you during this time.
Carolyn was a highly respected member of the Newman community and also amongst her dedication to the Newman Football and Newman Netball Associations during her time in Newman.
Carolyn touched the lives of many and will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Our crews were first alerted to a fire burning at the Newman Rubbish Tip at 9:30pm last night. We worked tirelessly through the night til after sun up this morning to get it under control.
After only a couple of hours sleep it was back out there again to assist with a flare up.
If you see our red trucks scooting around town today please be sure to give us a wave, small things can make our day brighter! πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ”₯

πŸš’ NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK | 18–24 MAY 2026 πŸš’

This week is all about recognising the people who quietly give so much to their community without ever asking for anything in return.

To every member of Newman Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service - thank you.

Thank you to those who head to training after a full day’s work, the crews who leave the comfort of home when the phone sounds, and the volunteers who have dedicated countless hours, years, and even decades to protecting our community. Even travelling many kilometres for the smallest job!

Volunteering is not about recognition or praise. It’s about commitment, teamwork, and genuinely caring about the people around you. Because of your dedication, our community is safer and stronger every single day.

National Volunteer Week gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the incredible contribution our volunteers make. Not just during emergencies, but behind the scenes every week of the year.

To all past and present members of the brigade, we sincerely thank you for everything you do. πŸ™

And if you’ve ever considered becoming a volunteer firefighter, we’re always looking for new members to join the team.

πŸš’πŸ”₯ Come on down to the station on Wednesday nights from 7pm πŸ”₯πŸš’

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them.

Tonight we celebrated someone who is always behind the camera and very rarely in front of it, our very own Lieutenant and Secretary Amanda!
Last year she was nominated for life membership of the Newman VFRS, tonight she was presented with the life member medal and certificate whilst our AO was in town.
Amanda has been a volunteer firefighter in our brigade since 2014. Spending the last 8 years as our Secretary and was our first female Captain and Lieutenant in the history of the Newman VFRS.
We think she well and truly deserved to be recognised for this but also for all the behind scenes things she does for us from organising our fabulous annual dinners (mainly solo!), organising and assisting with our training courses, making sure we are fed on jobs and at BBQs (treating us to yummy potato bake and cheesecakes 🀀🀀), kicking our butts when we haven't done something, making sure we are always doing the right thing, making sure things are clean, straight and not crooked (even if we do it just to annoy her OCD πŸ™Š)

Please join us in congratulating her on this achievement and 5 seconds of limelight πŸ‘
