Officer Fire Brigade

Officer Fire Brigade Officer Fire Brigade is a 100% volunteer CFA brigade situated 50km south east from Melbourne. Officer fire brigade was founded October 1942.

We were donated the land on Station Street in Officer where we currently still operate. Officer is a blend of hilly scrub and forest to the north, urban housing (growing rapidly!) through the centre of town and flat, grassy farmlands to the south. We are continually training to support any possible circumstance we may come across within each typology. We currently have three appliances in our engine bay. Our primary appliance is a 2001 Type 3 'medium' Pumper, our secondary appliance is a 2015 Medium Tanker which can carry 2350 litres of water. Officer is a specialist brigade and as such a 2017 Ford Ranger 4x4 support is our third appliance. It carries our LP Gas gear and Land / Water booms. The LP Gas gear is used to make safe LPG cylinders in cars, BBQ's etc when damaged. We are always looking for new recruits. So, if you live in the Officer area, and you want to give back to your community through fire and rescue, please come down to the station any Sunday morning between 9am and 12pm to chat with the current members to find out more.

🌟 Tonight is the night!

πŸ•‘ Clocks will move forward one hour at 2 am to kick off daylight saving time.

We know most devices automatically adjust but some clocks, like those in your kitchen appliances, wall clocks, or car, may need to be manually changed.

While you're at it, be sure to check your smoke alarm batteries. To do this, press and hold the test button until the smoke alarm beeps three times.

If your alarm doesn’t beep three times, it needs new batteries or replacement.

Forgetting something?

Once you've sorted out your game day plans, take some time to get your home ready for the Higher Risk Weather Season.

Victoria's fire agencies expect the season to start early this year. Preparing your property for fires now, and maintaining it through the warmer months, will help keep you and your loved ones safe.

Good preparation looks like:
βœ… Having an updated fire plan
βœ… Keeping grass short and gutters clean
βœ… Moving wood piles and debris away from your house
βœ… Pruning shrubs and trees
βœ… Making your property accessible for emergency services

Don't forget to download the VicEmergency app and set up a watch zone for your home.

21/09/2026

Victorian school holidays have arrived, along with some (mostly) lovely springtime weather.

It's a great time to get outdoors with your family. There's plenty to remember if you've got a trip planned, but these safety tips are worth taking with you:

πŸ₯Ύ Spring weather can change without warning, especially in alpine areas. Prepare for all conditions and pack essential emergency items, including a first aid kit.
πŸ”₯ Fire danger is higher than normal this spring. Make sure any fires are fully extinguished before leaving your campsite. Use water to put them out until the ashes are cool to the touch.
πŸ•οΈ Don't camp under trees or branches. Set up your site away from rivers or creeks as they can rise quickly.

Download the VicEmergency app and set up a watch zone for the area you're travelling to. Follow our regional pages for local updates. Check the featured post on our page to find out which page you should follow.

And most importantly: enjoy your holidays!
