The Australian Social Elevator - Dead as a Dodo 21/05/2026

๐Ÿ“บ WATCH the Latest Public Interests Before Corporate Interests Presentation
The Australian Social Elevator - Dead as a Dodo

For generations, Australians believed that if you worked hard, contributed to society, and looked after one another, your children would have opportunities for a better life than you had.

That belief was called the Social Elevator.

It meant ordinary working people could access:
๐Ÿ  Affordable housing
๐ŸŽ“ Quality public education
๐Ÿฅ Universal healthcare
โšก Essential public services
๐Ÿ’ผ Secure employment with fair wages
๐Ÿ‘ต A dignified retirement
๐Ÿ“ˆ The chance to move forward regardless of wealth or social status

But where did these opportunities come from? The Australian social elevator didnโ€™t magically appear out of thin air. It was created through generations of struggle by ordinary Australians who believed their children deserved a better future regardless of wealth, class, postcode, or economic power.

It was built through public education, affordable housing, secure jobs, strong unions, universal healthcare, public ownership, and the belief that governments should serve people before corporations.

For decades Australians were told that privatisation, deregulation, corporatisation and globalisation would create prosperity for everyone.

But where are the benefits?

Has Prime Minister forgotten the importance of the social elevator?

This presentation explores the political decisions, economic changes, and corporate agendas that transformed Australia from a society striving for equality into one marked by growing inequality and insecurity.

โš–๏ธ Constitutional Quagmire 15/05/2026

โš–๏ธ Constitutional Quagmire
How well do Australians really understand the Constitution that governs our nation?

In this latest presentation, we explore the Constitutional Quagmire Australia now finds itself in - and why most Australians have little awareness of the constitutional framework that determines what legislation can be passed at both State and Federal levels.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ Our current Constitution began largely as a trade document, regulating relationships between the states.
Over the past 126 years, increasing powers have been voluntarily transferred from the states to the central government - reshaping authority across the country.

But major questions remain:
โš–๏ธ Where are our human rights protections?
๐Ÿ’ฐ Why are there no constitutional guarantees ensuring Australians access the nationโ€™s common wealth?
๐Ÿ“‰ And how does this impact living standards as more Australians struggle economically?

Join us as we unpack these critical constitutional issues and examine what they mean for Australiaโ€™s future.

Reconciliation Week: Whatโ€™s it all about? 11/05/2026

Reconciliation Week: Whatโ€™s it all about?

What is Reconciliation Week and why has it become such an important, yet divisive, part of Australian public life?

In this presentation, we explore:
โ€ข The origins and meaning of Reconciliation Week
โ€ข The historical events that led to its creation
โ€ข The ongoing conversations about reconciliation in modern Australia

Reconciliation Week is bookended by two significant national dates:

๐Ÿ–ค National Sorry Day - 26 May
Emerging from the Bringing Them Home report, recognising the forced removal of Indigenous children from their families.

๐Ÿ–ค Mabo Day - 3 June
Marking the 1992 High Court decision that recognised First Nations peoplesโ€™ land rights and overturned the doctrine of terra nullius.

Reconciliation Week began as a grassroots effort to address the continuing divisions between First Nations peoples and the broader Australian community - whether born here or arriving as migrants, refugees, or asylum seekers.

Australiaโ€™s reconciliation journey is complex, challenging, and ongoing.

Public Interests Before Corporate Interests - PIBCI 30/04/2026

โ€œThe great thing about living in Australia - history begins when we wake up.โ€
Australia is a fascinating place to live. We are home to the oldest continuous living culture on Earth, stretching back over 65,000 years, yet we also inhabit one of the youngest modern nation states, federated on 1 January 1901, following colonisation beginning in 1788.

And yet, we often treat history as if it starts fresh every morning.

Living in Australia can feel like waking up to a brand-new day where the past is forgotten - where uncomfortable truths, contested memories, and inconvenient myths are quietly pushed aside.

Whether we are First Nations peoples, descendants of generations born here, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, or newly arrived Australians - we all inherit a national story shaped as much by what is remembered as by what is denied.

๐Ÿง  Why do we struggle with our past?
๐Ÿ“– What myths shape Australian identity?
๐Ÿ”ฅ And what happens when we finally confront history honestly?

This latest presentation dives into these questions - challenging assumptions, unpacking myths, and encouraging critical discussion about who we are and how we got here.

๐Ÿ“บ WATCH the Latest Public Interests Before Corporate Interests Presentation ๐Ÿšจ Time to review the Privatisation Nightmare ๐Ÿ’ฐ
When Public Interests Before Corporate Interests was formed in 2015, one thing quickly became clear - there was very little public understanding of key concepts like:

โžก๏ธ Privatisation
โžก๏ธ The Private Sector
โžก๏ธ The Public Sector

Again and again, we heard the same message: โ€œprivate is better than public.โ€
But why?
Many people were judging under-funded public schools and under-staffed public hospitals against private services that are heavily SUBSIDISED by Australian taxpayers.

Every public institution depends on public funding to serve the community. Yet many private institutions also rely on investors, consumers and significant corporate welfare funded by government resources.

๐Ÿ’ก So where are our public resources really going?
๐Ÿ’ก Who benefits from privatisation?
๐Ÿ’ก And what does this mean for essential services?

Join us as we unpack the realities behind privatisation and examine how federal and state governments allocate resources to the private sector for essential services.
