What a fantastic evening celebrating music, community, and creativity as the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra proudly delivered the grand finale of the 2026 Beach to Bush Arts Festival at the Peter Moyes Allan Shaw Auditorium.
The concert provided a fitting conclusion to another outstanding festival, which has brought arts, culture, and entertainment to communities across the City of Wanneroo through a diverse program of performances and community events.
A special congratulations to Timothy Luxton Lawrence on his conducting debut with the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra. 🎶 There’s something pretty special about seeing people reconnect with music at any stage of life.
Whether it’s a young musician building confidence, someone dusting off their instrument after years away, or even picking up a second (or third!) instrument just for the joy of it, that’s exactly what JSO Intermezzo is all about.
As part of the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra, Intermezzo creates a genuinely welcoming space where people can grow, connect and enjoy making music together, without pressure, just progress.
If you (or someone you know) are around Grades 1–4 level and looking for a supportive orchestral environment, this is a fantastic entry point back into music or deeper into it.

Intermezzo brings together a vibrant mix of:
🎻 Young musicians developing their ensemble skills
🎼 Adults returning to music after time away
🎶 Musicians enjoying the opportunity to play a second (or third!) instrument
Many of our players are reconnecting with music after a break, continuing their development, or expanding their musical horizons, all within a supportive and encouraging orchestral setting.
Intermezzo offers a welcoming ensemble experience where musicians build confidence, strengthen their skills, and share the joy of making music together.
If you’re ready to play in an orchestra that values growth, connection and community, we’d love to hear from you.

Great to be out with Adrian Hill, North Ward Councillor, and Rebecca Pizzey Central Ward supporting local theatre, something I’ve always believed deserves consistent backing, not just the occasional spotlight.
Arts and culture aren’t an add-on in the City of Joondalup, they’re central to our identity as a city. It’s an area I’ve continued to advocate for, not only by showing up, but by pushing for stronger support, real investment, and a clear long-term vision.
The Joondalup Encore Theatre Society is a great example of what our local arts community delivers, high-quality productions, opportunities for local talent, and a genuine contribution to the vibrancy of our city.
If we want a thriving CBD, arts and culture need to be supported consistently and with clear intent.

The Joondalup Festival 2026 was officially launched at the Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery, launching another exciting season of arts, culture and community celebration in our city.
The opening featured the remarkable exhibition “A Day with David” by photographer Christine de Grancy, presenting rare and intimate photographs of music icon David Bowie. Presented in collaboration with the Santa Monica Art Museum, the exhibition provides a fascinating glimpse into Bowie’s quieter and more reflective moments with outsider artists in Vienna. 📸
The exhibition is free and open to the public till the 22nd March, giving residents and visitors a wonderful opportunity to experience this unique international exhibition right here in Joondalup.
This exhibition is just one highlight of the Joondalup Festival 2026 season, which over the coming weeks will bring performances, public art, installations and community events to locations across our city, from parks and beaches to cultural venues. It’s a fantastic celebration of creativity that continues to position Joondalup as a vibrant cultural destination.
Congratulations to the team at the City of Joondalup, the curators, artists and everyone involved in delivering such a strong opening to this year’s festival.
If you haven’t explored the program yet, I encourage you to take a look https://joondalupfestival.com.au/ and be sure to experience some of the incredible events happening across our community over the coming weeks.
✨ Wonder awaits in Joondalup.

A fantastic evening celebrating 40 years of education and community at St Mark's Anglican Community School 🎉
It was a pleasure to attend the Marnjamoortup Festival, marking four decades of the school’s contribution to learning, leadership, and community life in our northern suburbs.
The night was a wonderful celebration of the St Mark’s journey, with incredible performances from talented students, great entertainment, and the chance for alumni, staff, families, and community members to come together and reflect on how far the school has come.
Congratulations to everyone involved in building such a strong legacy over the past 40 years. Here’s to many more years of success ahead.
