Iโd like to give a huge thank you to Evan Kakulas for all his support during my campaign.
Kakulas Bros was established at 185-187 Wellington Street in Northbridge on 29 August 1929 by Evangelos Kakulas.
The business commenced selling local groceries and, as more European immigrants arrived in Perth, it began importing products that were not readily available in the market, including basic spices. By the 1950โs as more Greeks and Italians arrived in Perth, products such as Greek olives, pasta, peeled tomatoes and dried fruit and nuts were imported and sold.
Today, Kakulas Brothers is run by Evan since joining from his legal practice in 1990 and these days, itโs hard to find something the store doesnโt sell! Whilst visiting the store with Evan, it was so great to hear from customers who were so eager to tell me how much they loved the store, itโs produce and customer service.

I took the opportunity today to sit down and have a coffee with these two gentleman and City of Perth residents, Rod and Neil to discuss their ideas for the neighbourhood as well as issues they have regarding the state of the โgardenโ on the medium strip running down Thomas Rd/Winthrop Ave.
Iโve long been an advocate for improving this area that frames our beautiful City. Wouldnโt it be fantastic if the City incorporated a beautiful selection of native flora to improve this area just like in the photo of the garden out the front of Council house ??
The 3 of us had wonderful conversation and it was so interesting to hear their short and long term ideas and iniatives for unlocking the Cityโs great potential!! Thank you, Rod and Neil!

Yesterday afternoon I had the privilege to meet with the District Governor of Perth Rotary - Western Australia, Graham Peden to discuss how the City of Perth Council can assist with making our City a more vibrant and enticing place, in particular on how we can respectfully and appropriately address the issue of homelessness that our city is currently facing.
Graham is also a local business owner and shared heโs thoughts on parking and activation within the City.
It was such an informative and insightful meeting and I wholeheartedly thank Graham for making the time to meet with me!

Today I met with local businessman and entrepreneur, Lawson Douglas at his bottle shop, Liquor Barons on Gordon Street in West Perth to discuss local government issues and ideas.
It was such a great opportunity for me to hear some of the issues and ideas facing local businesses in the neighbourhood and to assure them that Iโm here to listen and determined to give the community its voice back on local government matters!
