No further sightingss so the beach has been opened.

Broome SLSC volunteers are patrolling today.

⚠ 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 - 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 – 𝗖𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛 ⚠

A CONFIRMED estuarine (saltwater) crocodile was sighted today, Saturday 26 September 2026, at 4:30pm about 20m offshore on the northern end of Cable Beach in Broome after Lifeguards had finished for the day.

🚫 Cable Beach has been closed. The closure will remain in place for at least 12 hours (normally 24 hours unless caught and relocated).

Parks and Wildlife Service and Shire of Broome rangers will patrol the area from 06:00am on Sunday 27 September 2026. Broome SLSC volunteers will be on patrol from 08:30 AM

To assist in the management of crocodiles near Broome, sightings should be reported to 𝗗𝗕𝗖𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝟵𝟭𝟵𝟱 𝟱𝟱𝟬𝟬.

For those asking it was "relocated" to the Croc Park so ypu can go and pay it a visit....

And a second croc to the north of Cable Beach, Broome, WA, reported to us by people walking along the beach. Thank you for your vigilance, and also to the callers from the Cable Beach House this morning. Hope you didn't choke on the breakfast spotting the second big fella. All before the patrol had even started.

+++ UPDATE: 11:45am Saturday 29 August +++

The croc has now been captured and removed from the area.
Both Cable Beach and Gantheaume Point Beach have been reopened.
Thanks to Yawaru Rangers and Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers for a successful removal operation.
The croc will be taken to Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Farm on the outskirts of Broome.

⚠️ WARNING - CROCODILE SIGHTING – CABLE BEACH ⚠️

A CONFIRMED 3m estuarine (saltwater) crocodile was sighted today at 8:30am, Saturday 29 August 2026 approximately 2km north of Cable Beach and 100m offshore moving south towards Gantheaume Point.

As a result, the following beaches have been closed:
🚫Gantheaume Point Beach
🚫Cable Beach

Closures will remain in place for at least 24 hours.

Parks and Wildlife Service rangers are patrolling the area.
To assist in the management of crocodiles near Broome, sightings should be reported to 𝗗𝗕𝗖𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝟵𝟭𝟵𝟱 𝟱𝟱𝟬𝟬.

Swimming is prohibited.
Stay back from the water's edge.

A crocodile matching the description of the one sighted this morning has been seen off Gantheaume Point.

As a result, Cable Beach has also been closed.
