SPRING AT THE STIRLINGS 15th to 23rd October 2022
Hosted by the Albany Hang Gliding &Paragliding Club inc.
All pilots welcome Hang Gliders and WM.
We have planned this year’s event to be a little later in the year than in previous years to hopefully get better weather for some cross country flying, but still having mild conditions for pilots to become current before the beginning of the season.
The week will concentrate on Aero towing Hang Gliders and Microlight training with at least 3 tug pilots and 3 tugs available. There will be 3 or 4 SSO available to help any pilots needing endorsements or other types of support.
Anyone wishing to do an Aero endorsement will need to contact Simon 0427950556 before hand to make sure they have all the necessary equipment and have been briefed on the procedures.
Radio channels will be HGFA 1 Open (this is protocol for the Albany club)
All pilots or guests must have had at least a 14-day Quarantine period before entering the property if they have recently returned from Bali.
The cost of tows will be $25 for a 2000 ft tow hopefully the state associations will subside the tows by $10 per tow as in the past. That should bring the tows back to $15. (To be confirmed)
Higher tows will be arranged on the day anything up to 10,000ft.
All pilots attending the week will be expected to give a hand with groundwork and other things required to make the event run smoothly. We will be planning on rotating pilots to help with launch and dolly retrieve.
The Property is owned by Allen and Tania Wilmott who have given us the privilege of using their property for flying. Barracup Farm 988 Pootanup Road, which is on the South side of Pootanup Road 200 meters east of the Barracup and Pootanup road intersection.
It is recommended all pilots are self-sufficient with camping Equipment The cottage will be available with limited cooking equipment but has toilet and shower and power.
We look forward towards a great week of flying.
Anyone wishing to ground tow are welcome. However, paddock sizes are limited the current Aero tow paddock is roughly 750 mts Square.

YORK - MT BAKEWELL FLY-IN
This miserable weather has set in and it is unlikely Mt Bakewell will be flyable for the Fly-In scheduled for this weekend.
The organiser has decided to postpone the fly-in to a later date this year.
09/05/2022
Below is an update on this weekends fly-in at Mt Bakewell. Still too early to get a confident weather forecast so stay tuned during the week.
Current forecast models are indicating good launch conditions/flying on Friday for S, SE launches, and possibly West to SW for Saturday and NE on Sunday.
However, I expect the forecasts to change over the next few days to indicate more opportunities for the S and SE launches!
Westerly launch is still a work in progress but launchable and the NE launch needs a bit more development/exploration but probably launchable. Should be nice weather Friday thru till Sunday, for BBQ and flying.
Expect some to arrive Friday/Friday late afternoon for Flying and then Friday afternoon/evening for BBQ/meet and greet/social etc.
Same again possibly on Saturday and Sunday
Exact timing for flying/BBQ and firmer weather forecasts, details as we get closer to the weekend.
The speed of cold fronts passing below WA and change of season always throws the forecast models off a bit :) Over the last 40 years or so the approaching Full moon, on the other hand, never seems to fail, as a forecaster for great flying weather and Bakewell being on.. ;)

Pak n' Save Parachute Repack Night
This seasons parachute repack night will be held at the Banksia Grove Primary School (14 Viridian Dr, Banksia Grove) on 29th Oct at 6PM.
The gym will be set up so that you can swing and deploy, and if you want to test your packing skills deploy again.
There will also be a sausage sizzle and a few beverages provided.
We provide a venue and a few helping hands. While there will likely be someone there who can help you fold a conical or PDA parachute we may not know how to stow it in your particular harness. You should research that yourself before hand.
This is another HGPAWA supported event.

Membership of Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Western Australia Inc.
Fellow pilot
We are currently organising for the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Western Australia Inc. (HGPAWA) Annual General Meeting (AGM). Currently the likely date is early October
You have received this message because you are a member of SAFA residing in WA.
Contrary to a common misconception, being a member of SAFA residing in WA does not automatically make you a member of HGPAWA. This would be in breach of the WA Incorporated Associations Act (2015). Besides this, joining an incorporated association brings with it an obligation to abide with the constitution and rules of that association, and as such must be done deliberately and willingly.
The good news is that joining HGPAWA is free and simple. Just complete and submit the application form, which you can find here: http://www.flywa.com.au/join-hgpawa2.html
You may have noticed an article in the last Skysailor about flying in WA which detailed some of the things HGPAWA has been up to in the last year or so. Whilst you don’t have to join HGPAWA to fly our sites, being a member helps to keep you connected to the things we are doing, and you must be a member to attend AGMs and other official HGPAWA meetings.
The notice of AGM will be sent 21 days prior to the date. You will only get that notice if you are a member of HGPAWA. If you are unsure as to whether you are a member or not, check with our secretary, Richard Breyley ([email protected]) or just submit the membership form to be sure.
