On any given day in our community, there is a good chance local legend Allan Cleanthous is quietly helping someone navigate life a little more easily.
Allan wears a few hats, but they are all driven by the same motivation. As he puts it, his purpose is “to help and equip others to be helpers and equippers”.
It is a phrase he has carried with him since his theological studies in the late 1990s, and it explains why his impact has been felt across churches, caring networks and everyday legal encounters.
After stepping away from a long career in the Australian Customs Service, Allan became Senior Pastor at what is now the Lefevre Christian Family Centre. Over the years, the church has become a gathering point for genuine connection, support and community.
One of Allan’s proudest memories is hosting Community Carols at Fotheringham Reserve for 20 consecutive years. Families travelled from all over Adelaide. “It gave me a great sense of joy in being able to bring the community together,” he says.
Allan’s journey as a carer began in 2015 after his wife was diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Through CarersSA, he found support, perspective and eventually a new way to give back.
Now a volunteer, JP, Carer Champion and Digital Health Champion, he helps others find their voice and confidence in systems that can feel overwhelming. “Sharing my carer story with others and allowing their stories to merge with mine gave each of us a shared sense of understanding,” he says.
For Allan, it all comes back to people. Helping them slow down, feel supported and remember they do not have to walk alone.

Two giant dogs have appeared out of the blue at Harold and Cynthia Anderson Reserve in West Beach! Meet Arlo and Sunny, two very friendly pups created by the team at Climbing Tree.
We've been told by their owners, Simon and Bron, that the pair recently heard about a family and dog-friendly music and arts adventure Coastal Sounds and couldn't resist joining in.
After much tail-wagging and excitement, they convinced their humans to take them on a coastal walk to visit all the festival locations. Today they're hanging out near the playground at West Beach, but they'll be off on their travels again soon, visiting Henley Square on Friday, Grange Jetty Reserve on Saturday, and Semaphore Foreshore on Sunday.
If you spot them along the way, be sure to stop by for a pat, a tummy tickle, and a photo!
Arlo and Sunny have checked the forecast and given it four paws up! It's looking like a cracker of a day for Coastal Sounds from 10am on Sunday right along the coast!

Our construction team are currently hard at work on Railway Terrace Largs North, installing large precast concrete culverts as part of a new underground drainage network. Bigger pipes, wider culverts and more entry pits will collect and move water away more quickly when it rains.
These are key pieces of the new underground drainage system designed to better manage stormwater during downpours like the one we’re seeing at the moment
The project is part of the City of PAE’s ongoing Lefevre Peninsula Stormwater Management Plan, which is improving how stormwater is handled across the area and reducing the risk of flooding by expanding capacity of the system.
Once complete, the system will make it easier for stormwater to drain, helping to prevent water pooling on roads and around homes.

Secure and put away loose items around your property, such as outdoor furniture and trampolines, to stop them from being blown away and causing damage. Windy conditions have been forecast across parts of the State for the upcoming week.
