Today marks the State Funeral of the former King Harald V of Norway, who passed away on 28 August 2026 at the age of 89.

King Harald served as King of Norway for 35 years and was widely admired by the Norwegian people.

Today, the District Council of Robe is flying the Australian flag at half-mast as a mark of respect for His Majesty King Harald V and for the people of Norway as they mourn the loss of their King.

Our thoughts are with Queen Sonja, the Royal Family and the people of Norway at this time of national mourning.

āœˆļøFunding boost for Robe Aerodromeāœˆļø

Council has secured $22,435 through Round 11 of the South Australian Supporting Regional Aviation Program.

The funding will help deliver improvements at the Robe Aerodrome, including an all-weather starter extension to Runway 20, upgraded visual runway markers and drainage works.

With aviation fuel now available at the aerodrome, the improvements will provide an additional safety margin for aircraft departing after refuelling and improve year-round usability in wet conditions.

The works will also strengthen the aerodrome’s capacity to accommodate emergency service aircraft if required.

🌊 CONCERNED ABOUT ROBE’S COASTLINE? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO GET INVOLVED!

Would you like to become a citizen scientist, contribute to important coastal erosion research and learn how to fly a drone?

The District Council of Robe is seeking community volunteers to participate in an important coastal erosion research project being undertaken by the Flinders University Marine and Coastal Research Consortium.

Volunteers will assist with monitoring selected areas of Robe’s coastline, using a drone to capture visual surveys before and after significant weather events. The information collected will help researchers better understand how our coastline is changing and could contribute to future coastal planning and management.

No previous drone experience is required! Training will be provided as part of the project.

šŸ“… An initial commitment of 12 months is required.

If you’re passionate about Robe’s coastline, we’d love to hear from you.

The Expressions of Interest (EOI) form is available for download on Councils Website via the below link. Completed Expression of Interest forms can be emailed via [email protected], hand delivered to the Council Office (3 Royal Circus) or posted to PO Box 1, Robe SA 5276ā€

✨ What a fantastic evening at Kingston Community School’s Building Futures Night! ✨

Our team loved meeting students and families, chatting about the many career opportunities available in local government, and sharing our Job Ready Toolkits. šŸ’¼

The toolkits are designed to help young people find job vacancies, prepare a strong resume and cover letter, and feel confident heading into an interview.

The smoothie bike was a huge success, with plenty of pedal-powered healthy smoothies made throughout the evening! šŸš²šŸ“

A big thank you to Coorong District Council for generously loaning us the smoothie bike, and to Hansen Design & Print for creating our fantastic selfie frame. šŸ“ø

Thank you also to Kingston Community School for organising such a well-run event, bringing together local businesses, services and high school students to explore their future opportunities. šŸ¤šŸŒŸ

It was a wonderful evening, enjoyed by all!

šŸ“£ā€˜Out of the Frame’ public art proposalšŸ–¼

Council has responded to community concerns about the originally proposed Pioneer Park location for the ā€˜Out of the Frame’ public art project.

The two concept images below show a revised proposal for the entrance to Robe Cemetery:

šŸ“·Image 1: Shirley Snook recreating the historic ā€œWoman in Blackā€ image on the cemetery approach side.
šŸ“·Image 2: the mysterious ā€œWoman in Blackā€ figure from the historic old Robe Gaol photograph, on the exit side.

Council is now seeking written feedback on the proposed cemetery location and concept before making a final decision.

View the full proposal and provide feedback at https://www.robe.sa.gov.au/community/public-consultation

Feedback closes at 5:00pm on Friday, 11 September 2026.
