Imagine waking up in a hospital bed, physically recovering from a fall, only to realize the home you knew is no longer yours. For one of our own, this isn't a nightmare—it’s the sudden, harsh reality of becoming homeless overnight.
A kind neighbor and friend has been displaced after a medical emergency. She is currently without a place to call home, navigating the overwhelming uncertainty of what comes next. In a community as vibrant and caring as ours, no one should have to face this journey alone.
Do you have a lead on temporary accommodation, a spare room, or resources that could help someone get back on their feet in the Northern Gold Coast area?
If you have any leads, please reach out via private message or comment below so we can connect her with the help she needs immediately. Let’s show what our community is truly made of.
Why does Gold Coast Common Ground exist?
Hi everyone! 👋 Many of you have noticed our page evolving over the past few months. As we move forward under the name Gold Coast Common Ground, we want to take a moment to share a little bit about who we are and what we’re trying to achieve here.
Whether it’s sharing updates on community projects, highlighting local events, or just discussing how we can make our neighborhood a better place to live, the goal has always been simple: to create a space that feels like a true community. We want to be a neighborly hub for the northern Gold Coast—a place where we can share information, support each other, and celebrate the unique spirit of our area.
Who funds us?
In the interest of total transparency: we are 100% self-funded and grassroots. There is no corporate backing, no political party funding. This page is run by residents, for residents. It’s a labor of love, fueled by the desire to see our community grow stronger and more connected every day.
Does it work?
The "work" isn't about profit or metrics; it’s about impact. When we share information that helps a neighbor solve a problem, when we bring awareness to a local initiative, or when we simply help someone feel more "at home" in their neighborhood, that’s when it works.
This page is a collective effort. It works best when you join in, share your own experiences, and help us keep the conversation friendly and helpful.
Thank you for being part of the journey. Let’s keep building a stronger Gold Coast, one conversation at a time. 🏘️✨

Did you hear the rumour that Coomera is getting an Olympic Village for 2032?
Turns out… that’s not actually true.
The official 2032 Delivery Plan and Gold Coast venue list:
✔ Coomera Indoor Sports Centre is a confirmed Olympic competition venue.
✘ No Olympic Village is planned for Coomera — the only Gold Coast village will be at Royal Pines, Benowa.
Coomera will benefit from transport upgrades, but no housing legacy project is linked to the Games in the north.
If the north isn’t getting an Olympic Village or housing legacy, what should the long‑term investment priority be for Coomera and Pimpama?
What’s the ONE thing Coomera needs before 2032? Tell us below

Would you trade a crowded lineup at Snapper Rocks for a perfect barrel every 26 seconds?
The Gold Coast’s upcoming $300 million surf and golf resort, Palm Valley at Parkwood, just scored a major $4 million funding boost from the Queensland Government. Backed by three-time world champ Mick Fanning, the project is officially tracking to become a high-performance training hub for athletes ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
The centerpiece is a massive 4-hectare lagoon powered by Endless Surf https://endlesssurf.com/
pneumatic technology, giving you near-limitless wave customization and rides up to 25 seconds long—completely separate from ocean swelling and winds.
Are you keen to surf a guaranteed perfect wave on a golf course, or do you prefer keeping it traditional in the ocean?

The blueprint for the southern hemisphere's tallest tower has been torn up.
What would have been a 100-story Trump Tower on the Gold Coast is officially dead. Developers confirm that surging construction costs and changing market dynamics mean the ambitious project "no longer aligns with current strategic priorities and financial models."
What is a bigger risk to the Gold Coast’s identity: losing iconic landmarks like this, or continuing with high-density, high-cost development? Share your thoughts below.

A historic handshake just happened... 🤝
Regardless of your political stripes, today brings refreshing news.
In a fantastic show of bipartisan cooperation, our Federal Labor Government and the Queensland State LNP Government have teamed up for a massive $2.4 billion housing infrastructure pact.
Instead of political bickering, both sides are fast-tracking over 51,000 new homes across QLD—specifically unlocking land in major growth areas like Waraba, Southern Thornlands, and Mount Peter.
Even better? More than 20,000 of these homes are exclusively locked down for first-home buyers, completely blocking private property investors from outbidding local families.
By funding crucial "boring" infrastructure like roads, water, and sewerage, both governments are clearing the bottlenecks so builders can finally get to work.
Congratulations to both sides for putting politics aside to deliver for everyday Queenslanders.
