A CALL TO RETURN TO THE LORD!
Scripture for the Day!
“2 “The LORD was very displeased with your fathers. 3 Therefore tell them, the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Return to me,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the LORD of Hosts.” – Zechariah 1: 2 (WMB)
According to Elohim’s Calendar, we are in the 8TH MONTH OF THIS YEAR.
Today’s Scripture occurred on the 8TH MONTH as it is written:
“1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the LORD’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying, 2 “The LORD was very displeased with your fathers.
3 Therefore tell them, the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Return to me,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the LORD of Hosts. 4 Don’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: The LORD of Hosts says, ‘Return now from your evil ways and from your evil doings;’ but they didn’t hear nor listen to me, says the LORD. 5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? 6 But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers?
“Then they repented and said, ‘Just as the LORD of Hosts determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’”
This Scripture is a powerful foundation for “THE CALL TO RETURN” because it shows that returning to Elohim is not merely an emotional decision—it is a response to Elohim’s correction and a turning away from the ways that led us away from Him.
Zechariah spoke these words to a people who had returned from exile in Babylon.
Their fathers had repeatedly turned away from Elohim, rejecting His ways and refusing to listen to His warnings through the prophets. The consequences were severe, but Elohim’s purpose was not simply to condemn them—it was TO CALL THEM BACK.
Back to alignment with HIS WORD AND COMMANDMENTS.
For His WORD is TRUTH and HIS COMMANDMENTS are TRUTH.
Notice the order of Elohim’s words:
“RETURN TO ME.”
Elohim does not say, “Improve yourselves first, then come to Me.”
He says, “RETURN TO ME.”
The word RETURN carries the idea of turning back, coming back to the right path, and abandoning the direction that has taken us away from Elohim.
This is at the heart of REPENTANCE.
Returning to Elohim means more than just saying, “I BELIEVE IN ELOHIM.” It means examining the path we are walking and asking:
Have I actually been walking in OBEDIENCE TO ELOHIM according to HIS WAYS, HIS COMMANDMENTS AND HIS WILL?
REMEMBER!
You say, “I BELIEVE IN ELOHIM”, you do well BUT demons ALSO BELIEVE AND THEY SHUDDER!
It is written:
“19 You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe—and shudder.
20 But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? 21 Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected. 23 So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,”* and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith. 25 In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the pr******te also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.” – Jacob (James) 2: 19 – 25 (WMB)
THE WORKS!
The works that BELIEVERS must do is DOING ELOHIM’S WILL.
This means BELIEVING IN WHOM HE SENT – YESHUA HAMASHIACH!
All of Yeshua’s WORDS are from Elohim Himself.
If we BELIEVE in Yeshua, we BELIEVE in Elohim.
If we LISTEN to Yeshua, we LISTEN to Elohim.
If we LOVE Yeshua, we LOVE Elohim.
If we SEE Yeshua, we SEE Elohim.
It is written:
“28 They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Yeshua answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
30 They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see and believe you? What work do you do? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven† to eat.’ ”*
32 Yeshua therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
35 Yeshua said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe. 37 All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. 39 This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day. 40 This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
“65 He said, “For this cause, I have said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.” – Yochanan 6: 28 – 40; 65 (WMB)
THE WARNING AND PROMISE:
The warning concerning their fathers was intended to prevent the next generation from repeating the same pattern. Their history was supposed to become a lesson rather than a cycle – False teachings and doctrines passed down through generations.
And then comes the beautiful promise:
“I will return to you.”
Elohim’s response to genuine repentance is not rejection. He calls His people back into RELATIONSHIP and OBEDIENCE TO HIM.
THE CHILDREN OF ELOHIM & HOLY ONES (SAINTS):
Elohim’s Children and Holy Ones (Saints) display the concepts of RELATIONSHIP AND OBEDIENCE.
It is written:
“17 The dragon grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep God’s commandments and hold Yeshua’s testimony.”
– Revelation 12: 17 (WMB)
It is written:
“12 Here is the perseverance of the holy ones, those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Yeshua.” – Revelation 14: 12 (WMB)
This is consistent with the wider message of Scripture. Elohim repeatedly calls His people to remember, repent, obey, and return. The problem is not that Elohim has moved away from His people; often, it is that His people have moved away from Him.
Zechariah's message therefore speaks powerfully to us today.
We can inherit traditions, teachings, religious practices, and beliefs from previous generations without ever stopping to ask whether they truly agree with Elohim's Word. But Scripture calls each generation to examine the path for itself.
We cannot inherit obedience.
Someone else's faithfulness cannot substitute for our own walk with Elohim.
The call remains:
“RETURN TO ME”.
Turn away from Falsehood.
Turn away from Idolatry.
Turn away from Paganism.
Turn away from False Religions, Teachings and Doctrines
Turn away from Compromise.
Turn away from Disobedience.
Turn away from Traditions and Commandments of man that contradict Elohim’s Word.
Turn away from walking according to the desires of man.
Return to the Commandments, Teachings and the Ways of Elohim.
Return to the First Century Teachings of Yeshua Hamashiach and His Disciples and Followers.
Return to the Way.
And the PROMISE remains:
“I WILL RETURN TO YOU.”
THE CALL TO RETURN:
The call to return is not merely a call to return to a religious institution, denomination, or inherited tradition.
It is a call to return to Elohim Himself.
It is a call to examine everything we have been taught in the light of Scripture and to have the HUMILITY to change direction when we discover that we have departed from His ways.
It is written:
“2 You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.
3 He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the LORD’s mouth. 4 Your clothing didn’t grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years.
5 You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you. 6 You shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.” – Deuteronomy 8: 2 – 6 (WMB)
Returning to Elohim begins when we stop defending our path and start examining it.
The question is not simply:
“What have I always believed?”
The greater question is:
“Am I walking in the Way Elohim has commanded?”
Zechariah's message is both a warning and an invitation.
Elohim corrects because He desires His people to return.
Elohim calls because He desires relationship.
Elohim says, “Return to Me,” because the door is still open to everyone.
And when we truly turn back to Him, we discover the faithfulness of HIS PROMISE:
“I WILL RETURN TO YOU.”
REMEMBER THIS ONE THING!
It is written:
“8 But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat; and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11 Therefore, since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, 12 looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13 But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
14 Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without defect and blameless in his sight. 15 Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation;” – 2 Peter 3: 8 – 14 (WMB)
TODAY, if you hear His voice, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS.
Humble yourselves, Fear Elohim, KEEP His Covenant and REMEMBER His COMMANDMENTS to do them;
Love Elohim and Love Your Neighbour, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you all this glorious day that He has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
REMEMBER!
LIFE IS JUST A BREATH;
JUST A HEARTBEAT.
LIKE A VAPOUR, LIKE A FLOWER,
HERE 1 MINUTE GONE THE NEXT...
WE ARE BUT FLESH,
A WIND THAT PASSES AWAY AND DOESN’T COME AGAIN.
PRIESTLY BLESSING:
Yevarechecha Adonai, VeYishmerecha
The LORD BLESS you and keep you
Ya'er Adonai Panav Eleycha ViChuneka
The LORD Make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you
Yisa Adonai Panav Eleycha, VeYasem Lecha Shalom
The LORD turn His face toward you and give you PEACE.
