Parramatta Young Christian Workers (YCW) A movement based in Parramatta run by, for and with young workers. In this way the words young, Christian and worker describe three aspects of our reality.

Parramatta YCW offers a range of services to help those in need and to empower young people and adults to engage in their community as leaders and volunteers to make a change. We are inclusive of all peoples from all backgrounds, uniting to promote change in our local community on a person-to-person level. Many people fit in to one of these definitions or perhaps all.

Spring is here and so is spooky szn! 👻

We’ve got horror movie nights and our upcoming Halloween House Party fundraiser! Come get your scare on while supporting a good cause 🎃

We’ve also got an incredible day coming up with Martha Hennessy, social activist and granddaughter of Dorothy Day, journalist, activist and anarchist who spent her life challenging poverty, war and injustice through community and action.

Organised alongside a whole bunch of amazing organisations, we’d love to see young people there asking questions, joining the conversation and getting energised to make social change! ✊

And of course, Community Kitchen and our International Students Initiative are still going strong! Come along, meet some new people and get involved.

The YCW workers had an incredible time at St Columba’s Catholic College running a See, Judge, Act workshop with an amazing group of students! 🫶🏽

Students from Years 9 to 11 joined us after volunteering their time to organise the food pantry and fold clothes at Jesuit Social Services. Together we discussed why poverty exists, who really holds the responsibility and power to create change, and ways young people can start making a difference in their own schools and communities.

See, Judge, Act is an amazing tool we use here at YCW to help young people unpack the issues they see around them. We start by looking at what is happening and who is affected, dive deeper into why we think it is happening and what our values tell us, and finally get to the ACT part, where we work out what we can actually do to make a difference.

Because noticing an issue is only the beginning. The next step is working out what we can do about it!
If you’ve noticed an issue in your workplace, school, university or community and want to do something about it, send us a DM! We’d love to run a See, Judge, Act session with you and explore how you can turn your ideas into action.

A massive thank you to the students at St Columba’s for having us and for bringing such thoughtful conversations, ideas and energy to the day! 💛

Finding your light. ✨ What an incredible day!!

Our 2026 YCS Mid-Year Retreat brought together students from St Luke’s Catholic College and St John the Apostle YCS Group from Canberra for a day of connection, reflection, celebration and leadership!!!

YCW and YCS celebrated the incredible social justice initiatives happening in our schools and communities, spent time reflecting on the realities facing young people through our See–Judge–Act method (if you know, you know), and learnt from one another through a leadership panel. We were also privileged to hear from our YCW National Mentor, Joe Magri, who shared his journey through YCW, and Deacon Jeff Hoods, who offered a powerful reflection on the impact and importance of the work YCW continues to do.

If you haven’t heard of YCS before, it’s the high school movement of YCW. While YCW works alongside young people in workplaces, universities and communities, YCS empowers high school students to identify the issues affecting their schools, reflect on them through faith using our See–Judge–Act method, and take action to create meaningful change. Every YCS group looks different because every school community has different needs 🫶🏽

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us, especially our past and current YCS leaders who shared their stories, mentored our younger members, and inspired the next generation of leaders. 💙

Think your school could use a YCS group? Or keen to start one at your high school? We’d love to support you. Send us a DM and let’s make it happen!

We’ll see you at the next one. ✨

In celebration of both pride month and refugee week this past week, we will be screening the movie ‘Flee’ for our next community movie night!!

Flee is an animated documentary that follows a q***r Afghani man’s journey to Denmark as a child refugee and his experience grappling with his own identity in a new country. It is a beautiful and vital story of love and resilience especially in our current context where anti-immigration rhetoric is proliferating and the rights of refugees and migrants are being increasingly threatened.

Don’t miss out on this special screening❤️❤️
