Today marks the official start of the Bush Fire Danger Period on the Central Coast.

From now until the end of the Bush Fire Danger Period, residents and landholders must follow the rules when using fire outdoors.

If you are planning to conduct a burn, you may need a fire permit from your local Fire Control Centre or Lake Munmorah RFS brigade. Permits help ensure fires are conducted safely and reduce the risk to you, your property, neighbours and the wider community.

Before lighting any fire, you must:

• Check whether a permit is required.

• Obtain the appropriate fire permit.

• Notify your local fire authority and neighbours at least 24 hours before burning.

• Ensure weather conditions are suitable.

• Prepare adequate firebreaks and firefighting equipment.

• Never leave your fire unattended.

• Fully extinguish the fire before leaving.

Remember, conditions can change quickly. A burn that appears safe can spread rapidly, particularly in hot, dry or windy weather.

📣Scheduled Hazard Reduction burn 🔥

We would like to inform the community that a hazard reduction (HR) burn is scheduled for Saturday 12th of September 2026 in the Doyalson north area ( near the U-GO service station).
This controlled burn is an important measure to reduce bushfire risk in our local area.

💨Smoke may be visible in the area during the burn.

🚒Firefighting personnel will be present to ensure safety and control.

‼️Important Reminder‼️

Please only call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire. It’s crucial to differentiate between controlled burns and emergencies.
