For families supporting a loved one in hospital, being close can make an enormous difference. That simple idea is behind a community-led effort to establish dedicated carers accommodation at the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, Moruya.
Carers Accommodation Eurobodalla Regional Hospital Inc - CAERH is a group of locals working tirelessly to raise the funds needed to build an initial six motel-style units on the hospital grounds, giving carers, family members and loved ones a place to stay close to patients receiving treatment.
Through years of grassroots fundraising, CAERH has already raised more than $400,000, with the support of organisations like Moruya Jockey Club, Moruya Rotary, Rotary Batemans Bay, Night Owl Quilters Inc., CWA Moruya - and the community more broadly.
