What a way to finish 2025!
As the sun sets on another year at Rosebud Yacht Club, we’re celebrating not one, not two, but three incredible achievements from our very own members. This community just keeps raising the bar.
1. Ross Purcell– Gold medal glory: Bringing home a 1st in Division 1 at the Australian Masters in Canberra in October.
2. Shaun McKenna– Showing true grit and bravery, sailing in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart race, as chief navigator, on a Beneteau First 50 called White Spirit.
3. John Mather and Wendy Ludwick crewing with past member , Roger Gunn, at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron in the Petersville keelboat regatta on a Far East 28, for a 1st place in the Sportsboat Division.
After a very windy start to this sailing season, here’s to fair winds, good company, and settled weather for 2026.

Recently the Capel Sound Invitational was held between Rye and Rosebud, with McCrae YC joining for the fun.
Sadly the day didn't play our way, with the weather blowing dogs off chains and the event being blown out.
Even so, it was good to see clubs and competitors all getting out and wanting to have a go, and we look forward to completing the event again next year!

Last weekend we held our opening day for the 2025-26 season. We were pleased to award Wendy Ludwick with a Life Membership, recognising 50 years as a member, 15 years serving in a Flag Officer Role, serving on committee for 38 years, and our first and only female Commodore.

Women Supporting Women – On the Water! ⛵💪
Over the June long weekend, some of our ladies teamed up to race in the Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta at RMYS. They borrowed a Cavalier 350 and competed in really tough weather conditions – and smashed it!
With crew from Rosebud, Brighton, and RMYS, it was all about teamwork, resilience, and the spirit of women sailing together. 🙌💙

A big shout-out to Mornington Peninsula Shire () for their incredible support!
Thanks to a Community Support Grant, we’ve upgraded Rescue 3—or as she’s affectionately known, The Taco 🌮—with a brand-new four-stroke outboard motor.
The upgrade means a safer, quieter, and more environmentally friendly vessel that’s also easier to operate. That’s a big win for our volunteer crew—young and old—who give their time to keep our waters safe during training and events.
Here’s Mark, one of our youngest crew members, getting a feel for the new motor in The Taco 💙 This photo says it all—our club is growing stronger, more connected, and more capable every day.
👏 Thank you again to Mornington Peninsula Shire for helping make this possible!

It was “all hands on deck” this weekend for some beautification works at the club. Thanks to everyone who helped and we look forward to seeing the long term outcome.

What a perfect weekend. Bunnings sausage sizzle Saturday, then glorious conditions on the bay today for our Sternchaser. Our training squad even had a special appearance from some dolphins. What a treat!!
