The Bush Fire Danger Period starts today - and a fire permit is required if you are planning a pile burn.

Our members have had a busy week, attending weekend and weeknight training to make sure we are prepared this fire season. Alongside training, our volunteers also attended a hazard reduction burn and two bush and grass fires among our regular calls.

Planning a pile burn? Visit Hawkesbury Council's website for more information on what you need to do before lighting up:

Preparation starts with you. When a bush fire threatens, the decisions you make can save your life.
Firefighters will do everything they can to protect communities, but they can’t be everywhere at once. There is no guarantee a fire truck will be there when you need it.

That’s why it’s important to have a Bush Fire Survival Plan and know what you’ll do before a fire starts.
Before the bush fire season:
• Discuss your Bush Fire Survival Plan with everyone in your household.
• Prepare your home.
• Know the Bush Fire Alert Levels and when you need to leave.
• Keep key information and important documents on hand.

The more prepared you are, the more options you’ll have when conditions change. Learn more at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/prepare

The road was closed in both directions until Endeavour Energy could safely isolate the powerline. Thanks to Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade for assisting with traffic control on the northern side!
