🕷️ FUNNEL-WEB SPIDER SEASON IS HERE! 🕷️
Did you know we’re heading into Funnel-web Spider breeding season? 👀
From as early as October through to March, these iconic Australian spiders become more active as male Funnel-webs leave their burrows in search of a mate. ❤️🕷️
And here’s where things get a little wild… sometimes these eight-legged explorers accidentally wander into our homes! 🏠 Male Funnel-webs may take shelter in cool, damp places, including shoes, clothing left on the floor or other hiding spots around the house.
⚠️ So, what should you do?
🕷️ Brush up on your spider bite first aid.
👟 Check shoes and clothing before putting them on.
🏡 Be mindful of your surroundings, especially if you live in an area where Funnel-webs are found.
🚨 Remember: Funnel-webs are highly venomous spiders, and a bite is a medical emergency. If someone is bitten, call 000 immediately, apply a pressure immobilisation bandage, keep the person still and follow the emergency operator’s instructions.
As frightening as they might seem, Funnel-webs are an important part of our ecosystems and deserve our respect. 💚 They play their role in the bush, and with a little knowledge and awareness, we can learn to live alongside these incredible arachnids safely.
Let’s appreciate our amazing Australian wildlife from a safe distance! 🇦🇺🕷️
